In a bizarre turn of events, looks like the Marvel Anime Boxset will include Iron Man, Wolverine, X-men and NOT Blade, but instead Avengers Confidential...
Why!? This seems like a flagrantly stupid move, was Blade that much of a failure?
Mm, that's what I've heard so I'm hoping I agree. That said, I noticed on Amazon there's also a listing for a standalone X-men anime DVD set with the same release date as the boxset... I'm assuming that's in error because it strikes me that the point of the boxset is forcing people to buy all 4...
Well this is interesting...

Not sure if it's already been posted, apologies if so.
The price made me think it was just the two latest one-shot movies, but the runtime says 14 hrs plus which is about right for the 4 series.
No other...
I'm about 40 hours in myself, but it's my game on the back-burner for when I have nothing else going on. I think the fact that it touts itself on the very back of the box of being a 70+ hour game is kind of overwhelming for me :P
Agreed, "Tomb Raider" is great. It doesn't really do anything...
Bought "Kon's Works" off ebay. Normally I don't go in for Artbooks, since they are generally pretty pricey, but I just have to have anything Satoshi Kon related provided I can still enjoy it without knowing Japanese. I have Kon's Animation Works, which is a bit more balanced between text/images...
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes has just dropped to £22.00 on Amazon.co.uk for pre-order.
What's the deal with this game? Is it not a complete title? I've heard rumours of it being more like a prologue/beta to Phantom Pain and this pricing seems to confirm that. It's unheard of for an ordinary...
Same here. Only films/ shows I really love are deemed worthy of blu-ray quality :P
The kicker for me though is when better content is held on the 3D blu-ray releases or there is only a 3d blu + blu release, not a standalone blu release (looks Day of the Doctor, Hobbit Extended Edition, and The...
Has anyone heard or posted the news that Kaikisen - Return to the Sea, the first manga work by Satoshi Kon, has been released in English for the first time? It's under the name of "Tropic of the Sea" and was released a few days ago. I'm too excited.
Re: Defective UK anime discs
I don't know if this counts as defective, but I'm only 2 episodes in an Bakuman has some pretty dodgy subtitling. Words occasionally missing, or worded in such a way that makes me think they were done by someone to whom English is not a first language. Like "I'm the...
Do we have any idea what the Perfect Blue cover will look like? I'm hoping for the puzzle design, I thought that was the most visually striking of the posters. The UK one is kinda of a classic, simply because it's so iconic to me as one of the original big anime releases on VHS, but it's not one...
I'd agree with Death Note and Trigun. Misa has a few moments, but not many, and they're generally not played up, and while Vash lusts after a few women, the only instance I'd quantify as fanservice would be when he pops the buttons off Dominique the Cyclops' shirt.
I'd say "Paranoia Agent" has...
Awesome news RE Monster =D
Also, don't know if anyone's posted this, but I've just seen Amazon list Bakuman 2 for a release on the 22nd July. Awfully quick after series one, considering the time 1 took to get here. I won't be picking it up (I didn't feel it was as strong as S1) but gives me...
Yeah, Del Toro is kind of notorious for picking up projects and then leaving for whatever reason... hasn't he got like five unfinished things on the go right now? the Lovecraft movie, that 'Insane' game, finishing off 'Pacific Rim', dropped out of directing the 'Hobbit' (still a producer though...
I agree with Prof. One of the more realistic animes out there. In terms of what's involved, not the story so much :P i.e. no giant robots/ demons etc. I hope GDT at least has the sense to cast a Japanese lead, even if the rest of the cast probably won't all be German actors. Urasawa really paid...
I saw the VHS in Tesco as a kid, so it must've been pretty well promoted then.
Also on a somewhat melancholy note, the release date is a scant 2 days after what would've been Kon's 50th birthday... I'm planning on a full Kon works marathon that day. Lucky it falls on a saturday.
Well not something I expected to read today, but this has the elements to be something amazing. HBO always does good work and GDT is a sound fit. Let's hope the buzz it will potentially generate means the anime will finally get release over here too...
Source...
Yeah that's gonna be the driving reason for its release. Interestingly no blu-ray in the UK (not surprising I guess) but there is in the US, which IS odd, because while Marvel Anime got a full release in the states, the blu-rays were Japan only....
