UK Anime Blu-ray & DVD Bargains

Already own Space Dandy on DVD, but can't turn it down for that price. Also, here's a 5% off voucher for Zavvi. Not much, but it all adds up.

Of course it had to be a site that doesn't ship to Portugal making those sales >_>

Is there much anime and/or manga released in Portuguese?

Zero. Just old stuff. There is manga being released in portuugese now actually, like Naruto, Blue Exorcist, Death Note, Assassination Classroom and Rurouni Kenshin but that's it. Me and Y2Johnny, we use US/Uk Market as our market. I only buy UK versions but he goes between UK, US and AUS. xD

Yeah, what he said :p

Basically the only manga I recall seeing in Portuguese is Dragonball and I believe All You Need is Kill, I admit I'm not up to date manga wise. As for anime, I've seen some classics (Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, the original Evangelion movies, the Ghibli movies, stuff like that) and the first new Evangelion movie, and only in DVD, no blu-ray. And most of them are just awful editions, especially the Ghibli movies. Sound, image and subtitle quality are just awful, and I've regretted purchasing a whole lot of them when they were really cheap (around £3,5 each).

So yeah, the anime industry isn't great over here, thus we have to resort to the UK (and in my case US and Australia as well) if we want our fix :p

I just spotted that Zavvi are offering RahXephon for £10.99.

That, ladies and germs, is a steal. Snap it up!

Good series but the subtitles really go out of synch with the Japanese audio in it (dub is fine.)

Do you know if the release is PAL or NTSC?

It's the PAL ADV 101 anime release (I bought it from Zavvi a while back) I don't know if ntsc versions have the same problem.

I was just wondering because it's easy to find NTSC subtitles and add them. It's harder with PAL.

Ah OK. At a guess I'd say that the pal encode is the problem as they don't seem to have altered the timing from NTSC (it gets worse as it goes on) the dub is decent enough though.

Not an actual sale but UP1 has the Australian Unlimited Blade Works CE for pre-order. Excluding postage it's £79.20 or £66(plus what ever your bank charges for currency conversion) from UP1USA.
