The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a thread)

Does Manga UK's BD version of the Blue Exorcist Complete Collection use Aniplex's discs just like their earlier release (which was split into 2 volumes)?

The reason for asking is that I'm considering purchasing it one day, but if it's re-authored (in a bad way) for the Complete Collection, then I'll just get the 2 volumes.

I'm not sure if I should state this here. My question was already answered by Jerome when I asked him if they used the exact same discs as the Definitive Edition (which was released in 2 volumes) on Twitter. He simply said "yes" as his response to my question. Looks like I'll get the Complete Collection after all.

Where does everyone buy their USA releases from nowadays?

I used to buy most USA releases from UP1 but since they charge RRP now they've ended up being quite expensive.

The ones i'm looking to get soon are Code Geass CE, Haruhi Suzumiya CE & High School DxD S3 CE.

Also who handles packages for Amazon.ca & Rightstuf just in case i get stung by customs with them.

I don't know if it's just me, but it's kind of six and two threes between UP1 and RS price. Sure, UP1 may appear more expensive, but once you factor in shipping and tax costs, you're probably not going to be saving a ton in comparison to RS. As far as I'm aware, RS don't undervalue items either, so your chances of being caught are pretty high. For this reason, I think I'd be more for using UP1, because they won't get caught up in customs and thus will arrive quicker. Of course, it will differ from item to item, sometimes RS have great sales on, in which case it's almost always worth going there. In terms of couriers, I believe that RS has been known to use UPS, Royal Mail and Parcel Force.

Pretty much what Lemon said, you're kind of out of luck if you're looking to import since the currency took a nose dive.

For Amazon.ca you can pay the customs up front with the "global" shipping option right? Though that ends up being as expensive as UP1, since you're paying the customs charges and expensive shipping (you're just dodging the needless £8 customs handling). It is quick though.

RS is a bit of a gamble as if you don't get caught by customs, it's cheaper, but if you do, it's more expensive than UP1. All my RS packages have been handled by Royal Mail, so it's the £8 fee plus 20% of item price + postage and a delay of a week or two if it does get stopped.

UP1 is pretty expensive, but it's probably the most reliable and my preferred option, since you know exactly what you're paying, and you know when stuff is turning up after it's dispatched.

There's always the option of hawking eBay or even Amazon.co.uk, as occasionally sellers will import a bunch of copies to sell on, can be very hit or miss though.

Amazon Canada doesn't feature the AmazonGlobal shipping option (that allows you to pre-pay the VAT). So far it's only Japan and United States as far as I'm aware.

Quick question, well guess that's what this thread is for :)

Has anyone who has ordered FUNi's Haruhi Suzumiya UE from on UP1USA already got a shipment confirmation for their set ? I see now on UP1USA that this set is listed as out-of-print.

*Deepest of sighs*

I've just discovered that I have a faulty disc in my copy of set 1 of After War Gundam X. Tried repairing and re-surfacing it, but no dice. Looks like an isue with the disc itself.

Anyone else found this? It happens on disc 3, during teh episode 'Can You Hear My Voice?' - about two minutes after the eye catch, the disc freezes momentarily, and sometimes completely stops.

I've already contacted RightStuf! to see if they might be able to source a replacement disc for me. Just curious to see if this is a common issue.

General question to anyone who's used eBay's GSP. I got an email last night that said that my item had cleared customs and was out for delivery

Does that mean it's just with the courier or that it's actually out for delivery, arriving today?

You probably won't get it on the day, but it usually means the item is due with you imminently.

I'm a fan of the Ebay Global Postage System. I like that they keep you informed of tracking as a courtesy. It takes a lot of angst out of placing those kinds of orders.

Given it's 7pm now, I gathered that haha. Hopefully it's here shortly then.

When I've ordered items through the Global Shipping System, it's usually taken 3 to 4 days for them to arrive with me once they're reached the UK mainland. So I wouldn't be looking wistfully at your letterbox until Monday, maybe.

You're a little bit at the mercy of whoever the courier service is, though. Mine's been Hermes each time, which I'm not best impressed with. But teh fact that their performance and delivery is being tracked seems to ensure that they actually DO deliver, for a change!

Another eBay GSP question: Has anyone just had the tracking die whilst using it? There's been no update since the 29th for me...
GSP is a bit of an interesting one, as their final courier tends to subcontract I've found, so it ends up with any number of delivery services who may or may not have the ability to update tracking.

I've had GSP packages take maybe a week to turn up after the last tracking event, either way, it's eBay, so you're more than covered should it go missing (I mean it'd suck not to get the thing, but you're not left out of pocket in a worst case scenario).

I see. So basically, I just have to cross my fingers and hope it turns up? :p

I see you're getting the hang of this international postage thing!

Edit: Looking back at my last order, there was a gap of 6 days between the "GSP item has cleared customs and is now out for delivery with the carrier." email and the "Delivered" email. Ditto with the tracking.

Not sure if this is the best thread to ask this, if i'm sure a moderator will slap me ;)

Have a request for an UK citizen with an eBay account who is willing to help me out.

Have my eye on a DVD set sold by an UK seller but that person only ships inside the UK. Contacted the seller if he would be willing to ship outside the UK but unfortunately that's not an option for the seller.

So now i'm looking for a friendly person here who would be willing to help me out. If you're the one just send me a PM and i'm sure we can get to some sort of agreement.

It goes without saying i'll pay for all costs; shipping from UK to Belgium + additional Paypal fees for example.
