I wonder when the full retail release is going to happen and how long of a wait for retail release be.

Ha, knowing Crunchyroll, and with how they dumped of most if not all of the Nozomi Staff, I wouldn't put it past them to want to rid themselves of this project as soon as they can and not bother with any public Blu-ray release. They would be stupid not to make more copies for the public, but then, Crunchy doesn't operate in any sensible manner, so...

Pretty much. Crunchyroll don't care about physical releases of catalogue titles. They're the force powering the simulcast anime churn outside of Japan. If it's not big today, it's not on their radar. This is why I'll be amazed if we get any of those Macross sets that Nozomi announced before the buyout. Probably the only reason the Dirty Pair set is still happening is because people invested in it upfront and it would be a PR disaster if CR let that fall through. Despite that, I wouldn't be surprised if the project had been sidelined or mothballed until Justin Sevakis publicly called them out about it.

I noticed their help desk link, for missing email confirmations for despatches, goes to the Crunchyroll store help desk. However international Kickstarter backers orders were not transferred to the CR store when they acquired Rightstuf.

I actually think alot of this dumping of Nozomi titles is so they can rerelease stuff under the Crunchyroll banner. Of course not everything by any means but I think quite a few gundam titles and a few others will be rereleased.

Crunchyroll have been doing some catalog titles, Afro Samurai, Outlaw Star, Ouran, Code Geass, Psycho Pass and to some extent Planetes. So I wouldn't rule it out entirely.

I also firmly believe Dirty Pair will be released with a standard version by this time next year.

To follow up from my photos today post, a rep got back to me via Kickstarter and informed me that the separate add on lamp I ordered is still due to be shipped soon, but had to come separately from the other goodies. Looking forward to having both to hand.

Just received this (hilarious) email from Crunchyroll:

We wanted to say thank you for your recent order from the Crunchyroll Store.
Thank you for backing the Dirty Pair (1985) remaster project on Kickstarter. We are pleased to inform you that the following items you ordered as part of this project have shipped:
  • Kei Dirty Pair Kickstarter Otaku Lamp
  • Yuri Dirty Pair Kickstarter Otaku Lamp
  • Dirty Pair Kickstarter Art Card Set
  • Dirty Pair Kickstarter Character Magnet Set
The remaining Backer Reward items, such as the Blu-ray, Blu-ray art box, and art book, will be shipped as soon as they are ready. (Don’t worry, you won’t be charged any additional shipping fees.)

Recent!? At least they confirmed we won't be hit by extra shipping charges. Now to wait to see whether it gets stopped at Customs.

Well, the best thing about this separate shipment of Dirty Pair swag is that Crunchyroll included a 20% off code, which actually stacked on top of my membership discount! I received my swag shipment 3 days ago, and today I just placed an order for 22 mostly pre-order Blu-ray titles releasing through the rest of the year. With my 15% Ultimate Fan discount and the 20% code, I saved a boatload - $1012 of Anime minus $152 savings from my 15% Ultimate discount, minus another $172 dollars from the 20% off code, brought the cost down $324 to a total of just $688. 🥳

I've received my Dirty Pair Yuri lamp. It works great, I kinda wish I had ordered both to receive a set.

It does appear to have one short coming though, it does not hold memory of the settings if you switch off the USB power to it. When you turn it back on it resets back to a slow fade of cycling through all colours. I wonder if it will remember the settings when battery powered instead of USB powered, but then again if it does then it may be slowly draining the batteries even when turned off.

My second lamp is still due to be shipped out soon - an attempted $0.01 charge was made to my Chase card which they declined so Crunchyroll sent a generic “message us asap” email - I’ve changed the card and heard nothing since, so fingers crossed there’s no issues.

One of my lamps stopped working after about 15 minutes running time. I contacted CR, expecting them to just refund me £5 and tell me to pick up a new base off eBay. Instead they are sending me a new lamp. So I think I will have a spare Yuri perspex by the end of the week. I certainly can't complain about the customer service. Quality control, on the other hand...
