CODE GEASS - LELOUCH OF THE REBELLION - R2 cut by BBFC

How many years did it take them to find Handley? And if it hadn't been for the US post office randomly checking a package the world would be none the wiser to his collection.

*cough* just a word of advice...make sure you have the "internet" completely off whenever you watch any sort of anime dvd which might have "1" second of explicite stuff! Who knows if Big Brother is watching your dvd player and going through your history if you were online lol
I'm going to assume you're trying to be funny... kind of hard to tell.

Its good to know that we have so little crime in our country that we have to go to such lengths to find something else to punish people for.

We might see the BBFC being more extreme with rating anime and start cutting material. As they would take the blame for any material that is passed which is considered not in line with this new law.

Why? This law does not change what can be sold or shown in the cinema. This law is purely about ownership.

The obscene publications act, the video recordings act etc.. have not changed.

Well my thought of that child sex law passing could effect BBFC has come true.

It would be Interesting to know what anime in the past would now be have to be cut by the BBFC now if sent to their to be re-rated.

Apart from a single tweet which reffered to a fictitious act there is no actual indication this has anything to do with the Coroners and Justice Act.

Everything points towards it, BEEZ also later added that the 1 second was cut was because "one static picture on phone" and Consumer Advice about the episode on the BBFC mentions that episode "Contains sexualised images."

If you think of anything any other image that could appear on mobile phone screen that would force a cut apart from underage sex I would be interesting to know what.

I've emailed the BBFC, we'll see what they say.

The Coroners and Justice Act says it requires ACTUAL sex, not sexualised or suggested. You don't get a nobel prize for suggested science.

Well as Reaper gI has just mention that its minor female character changing is the scene in question. It kinda obvious anyway it going to be that can you come up what other possible image apart of underage sexual image it could be then to force a cut?

sexual images per BBFC rules includes things like all kisses etc.
The good thing is import is still ok unless they totaly ban the entire film.

If thats it then I can't see how its the C&JB. Is it obscene? Is it pornographic? It could be the child protection act 1978.

I do hope they reply.

If you can't see why this is worrying news, then consider me astounded. Way to miss the point.

Well, I'll charitably overlook the tone of your post and clarify what I hamfistedly tried to say before:

Yes - I do see why this has got people worried. And I did say, it does seem like a ridiculous cut.

But, let's not be jumping to any conclusions here. This is a cut of 1 second or possibly less, and I'd assume that's the extent of the cuts ordered for this particular release from the way it's been reported. So personally, if that really is the case, I can live with that.

What will be more interesting is to see what sort of treatment Mnemosyne gets. If that gets cut to ribbons, then I'd suggest we'll have a stronger indication of what sort of real impact the legislation is going to have.

And as Project 2501 said, we don't necessarily know that this was in direct connection to the Coroner's and Justice act. We've got one brief comment from Beez's blog / Twitter page or whatever to suggest that it might be a factor.

I'd like to hold back from panicking until there's a bit more in the way of info on all this.

"Don't worry, they won't make any cuts to 'normal' anime"

"Don't worry, they will only make 1 second cuts to 'normal' anime"

"Don't worry..."

Beez being the ones who submitted it to the BBFC, and presumably were informed of the reason for the cut. It would be pretty poor of them to jump to conclusions and post said conclusions publicly on the internet - Beez being notoriously tight lipped about other things.

if it was sopmething you'd actually notice we would care less. It's the fact this single frame you wouldn't notice unless pointed out to you is so bad it has to be cut; as it has serious risk of turning large numers of people into peadophiles.
Why it was cut at all is the issue.

No we're not!!!!!!!!! We're the country that vetoed it form being a statutary human right.

As it would make real CP legal as it's illegal for the wrong reason, obsenity rather than it being stuff that is illegal to produce. (NB discrepancy between age of consent and anti CP law as it stands)

And this is why acts shouldn't get shat out in a rush before parliament ends.

Because even if this wasn't DIRECTLY from the act, it's the chilling effect at work.

And it's another series I will never buy now that the Dinosaur Empire have edited it, one second is all it takes. I will never touch any anime defiled with the Dinosaur Empire's Edit Beam.

Why is it relevant that it's only one second?

The point is that it sounds like a fairly innocuous image, probably no worse than what we've seen in shows that the BBFC didn't see fit to edit. The timing of this cut, just weeks after the C&JB came into effect, as well as the comment from Beez, suggests that the bill played some part in the BBFC's decision. And while neither I nor anybody else here is "panicking", it is a matter of concern.

Honestly, I wouln't change my stance if it was a shot of a guy picking his nose that got removed.

This is still an edited set mandated by a bunch of dinosaurs that will now not get picked up by myself.

And, what, is implied masturbation by use of a table OK because the person who walks in on it is blind? What the hell kind of values does the Dinosaur Empire have anyway?!
