What did you RECEIVE today? PHOTOS EDITION!

Aniplex = Better Video/Audio

Explain please. Even if Anime Ltd used less discs I doubt they reduced the bitrate enough to see any difference between video quality. Or I am wrong ?

I would show some pictures of the actual third KLK set itself, however my copy is ridiculously difficult to open. The booklet/digipack don't slide out like the previous sets (presumably as a result of the smaller box), and mine are pretty much stuck in there unless you pull the sides of the box and yank either one out. I picked up the MVM release of Log Horizon because I think it actually looks better than the Sentai version in part due to the reversible covers - that and it's a Sentai release. Sentai releases have been getting increasingly worse recently IMO, and I don't consider them worth the money for the standard import versions.

One bonus picture to show that I've truly lost my way

It's beautiful

Mangaranga, those are some lovely home video releases you have there, but please take the protective film off your keyboard. That's just unnecessary.

I have the same one by the way, it's a nice keyboard. I like that I can see it in the pitch black.

So yesterday I went to MCM Comic Con London and picked up these lot (if you followed me on Twitter then you may already know what I gotten):

Anime Limited booth:
Kill la Kill - Box #3: Collector's Edition [Blu-ray] - Imgur Album - Blog Post
Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise - Film: Collector's Edition [Blu-ray/DVD] - Imgur Album - Blog Post

Otaku UK booth:
Air - Complete Series: S.A.V.E. Edition [DVD] - Imgur Album - Blog Post
Kanon - Complete Series: S.A.V.E. Edition [DVD] - Imgur Album - Blog Post

I had a good time (not perfect) on Saturday and I did attend the Anime panels (Anime Limited + Viewster and Animatsu + Manga UK). Overall I'm very impressed with what was announced between the two especially with the fact that Animatsu now owns Index and Railgun. I remember when the trailers for Rebellion and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F were playing people outside the theatre were watching due to the noise.

I also managed to have a quick chat with Jeremy Graves when I purchased Royal Space Force. He was recapping how Sword Art Online II was being handled and I asked about the artbox (whether it was for all parts or Gun Gale then Caliber/Mother's Rosario) which he confirmed was for all parts, though the art was not final. He also said the wi-fi was pretty terrible so announcements were delayed.

No Visual Novels or games this time due to pricing and the fact that pretty much this entire con barely had any Doushiji or Eroge sections whatsoever, seems to be more family friendly than usual. The Otaku UK import section had the same type of titles as before so I went with the older Key/Kyoto shows since I wanted to watch them. JoJo volume 2 was also picked up for £10 at the Viz Media booth, barely any older manga they had so I could take advantage of the 5 for £20 deal plus I couldn't find Food Wars! which was annoying.

I also went to the Batman Arkham Knight panel, Bandai Namco Entertainment panel and Agents of Shield panel, all of which were pretty good.

Nice pickups. Surprised you managed to find US releases on sale at MCM considering there was the whole crackdown on non BBFC certificated releases a while ago.
On the opposite to you I spoke to Andrew a lot (Must have been for over 30 mins on Sat + over an hour on Sun). He's such a nice bloke too, very enthusiastic about what he does whilst being down to earth and honest about things.
Was introduced to Jeremy by him too who's an equally great guy. They're definitely not as scary as people say ;D

Overall I agree that the announcements made over the weekend were impressive. I liked the way that Jerome did the whole three clue thing for Railgun. In my head I was going "F'N FINALLY" when they showed up. The "clue" for A/Z from Jeremy was also pretty funny too.
The way Animatsu showcased everything with trailers (or an opening in Index's case) was also pretty neat and added to the hype. The Madoka Rebellion trailer in particular was pretty good considering everyone made noise when JM said Madoka, and quietened down again afterwards when he said movies 1 & 2.

Wow, really? UP1's stand was always the thing I was most pleased to see in the past.

Aniplex almost always use the transport streams from the Japanese BDs and add the English/Audio and subtitles (JP BDs are usually ~40mbps for the video). The only time this hasn't been the case was for Kill La Kill volume 5 since they couldn't fit everything on one disc otherwise, so they compressed things ever so slightly. Still looks awesome. Japanese BD's are much higher quality than western sets for the most part (Which are usually compressed to 18-20mbps and introduce all sort of issues introduced due to bad encoding), although they can also be far from perfect too. That said, Anime Limited's release of Kill La Kill holds up very well in comparison. Thankfully they actually care about the quality of their releases, so AL's recent self authored releases tend to be ~30mbps and look great. The only real differences between the two is the audio (24bit PCM on US BD vs 16bit DTS-HD) and the UK disc 1 signs being hardsubbed.

No! I've had this keyboard for over two years now(?) and it's here to stay! One of my friends keeps trying to peel it off when he comes over though.
It is indeed a nice keyboard though. The first "proper" one I bought, and I'm not disappointed in it at all.

Code Geass: Akito the Exiled - So I paid £10 for this on eBay, and now I'm going to have to spend over 10x that to get the rest from Japan (Not sure how to go about that, probably try Amazon since I can pay tax when buying), and since I'm ordering from Japan, I may have to grab the Garden of Sinners BDs while I'm at it....I didn't think this through but then I didn't expect to actually win it anyway lol but hey, I loved Code Geass so I look forward to watching this.

Yeah, the Death Note packaging is really weird, and kind of a waste of space. They should have re-packed it into a standard, thinner case like they did with Gits. Even a set like FMA Brotherhood where it's two discs per slim case would have been preferable.

Only ordered it yesterday morning, but JoJoVeller turned up today! It is so big! (ignore the manga image, I took it to show my friend how huge it was lol)

lol I can't believe someone on the forums won that. I was so tempted to get it, but I'm not a big Geass fan. Happy that you managed to get it, though. :thumb:

I couldn't believe I won it either to be fair lol I only bid because no one else had and it was only a tenner, didn't think it would sell for that. Pretty glad I got it but at the same time kinda dunno how to feel about having to import the rest lol.

I got mine from cdjapan. I've always done it as unregistered SAL and marked as gift. As of yet i've not been hit by customs doing it this way.
