It's that time again, I have returned with another Japanese import haul since it has been quite a while and it's almost the one year anniversary of my PlayStation 3 haul journey. Back in April 2017 I had at least 40 PS3 games, and by this update I will eventually have 80.

The following titles that I have chosen are ordered in 'pre-owned' condition which I have done a few times through Solaris Japan. The reasoning behind these is because you will struggle a lot to acquire them in brand new condition.

Gal*Gun
Released:
February 2012
Genre: Light Gun Shooter

Thought Gal*Gun: Double Peace was the first game? Think again, because the first game never got released outside Japan. In fact the game also supports both the PlayStation Move controller and the 3D compatibility that Sony was trying to push at the time. The reason this game is pretty rare is because the publisher Alchemist went bankrupt.

Onechanbara Kagura Z: With NoNoNo!
Released:
October 2013
Genre: Action Hack n' Slash

One of two budget games that spawned a big franchise alongside Earth Defence Force from D3 Publisher, for some random reason this PS3 instalment never got released in the west. When Onechanbara Z2 was announced for PS4 I actually thought it was the same game but it turned out it was a sequel to this game. This game will also mark my first CERO Z game which is the Japanese equivalent of 18 rated games dedicated to titles with strong bloody violence (not fanservice oddly enough since Japan isn't that fussed about that, the highest that would get is a D). Japanese games actually don't get the Z rating that much since most have been western titles such as GTA & Call of Duty but some have been given the treatment like select Suda51 titles, Resident Evil 7 and few visual novels like Shin Hayarigami.

That's my haul for now. I do plan to get more Japanese PS3 imports but the two above were my priority in terms of rarer games. The remainder are currently at a good price point for the time being.

How much?

I got these from hmv today.View attachment 3237
I keep seeing that War of the Worlds vinyl and keep thinking I want to buy it (even though I don't have a player!)

I brought K-on the Movie after finishing Sound! Euphonium. It seems the series has to be imported for Blu-rays, but apparently they all work on PlayStation so that's good. At the moment they're sitting in my Amazon.us basket and come to £73.19, but I don't get paid till tomorrow.

Pre-ordered God of War (PS4) from ShopTo.

Season 1 and Season 2 Part 2 AUS Blu-rays are pretty well priced on eBay right now. Might save you a few pounds.

New bonus update to the PlayStation 3 haul. I have decided to make Stage 7 be dedicated solely to Japan-only imports (retail copies wise). Both Gal*Gun and OneChanbara Kagura Z have shipped with an estimated arrival sometime this Wednesday-Friday. I decided to see if there are any more imports I can acquire cheap if they are in good condition. I just ordered another one for a good price:

Vampire Resurrection (aka Darkstalkers Resurrection)
Released:
March 2013
Genre: Fighting

Capcom during the time had been doing this weird move where only Japan and Asia got the retail releases while the west didn't. One of those titles was from the cult favourite series Darkstalkers. This HD Collection covers Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge and Darkstalkers 3 released in 1995 & 1997. Many may recognise the franchise for the iconic Morrigan who also appeared in the Marvel vs Capcom series. One of the reasons I also ordered this is that it's actually another one of the few games on my list that are somewhat semi-rare to own or going up in price alongside OneChanbara Kagura Z. With this game acquired now the rest are pretty good price range to own in 'brand new' condition.

Here are the remaining to-buy Japan-only titles, feel free to recommend me any others if you have acquired any:
  • Another Century's Episode R
  • Mobile Suit Gundam Side Stories
  • Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn
  • Nurarihyon no Mago: Hyakki Ryouran Taisen
  • Sakigake!! Otoko Juku: Nihonyo Korega Otoko Dearu
  • Yakuza 1 & 2 HD Edition
Recap of the Japan-only PS3 games I currently own so far:
  • Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax
  • EX Troopers
  • Gal*Gun
  • Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F
  • Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd
  • Initial D: Extreme Stage
  • J-Stars Victory Versus
  • K-On! Houkago Live!! HD Ver.
  • Macross 30: Ginga o Tsunagu Utagoe
  • Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs.
  • OneChanbara Kagura Z: with Nonono!
  • Phantom Breaker: Extra
  • Ryu Ga Gotoku Kenzan! (Yakuza Arrives!)
  • Sengoku Basara HD Collection
  • Shin Koihime Musou: Otome Taisen Sangokushi Engi
  • Shining Resonance
  • Wangan Midnight
Other PlayStation 3 games I'm interested in acquiring (to reach my goal of 100 total retail games in the collection):
  • Afro Samurai
  • Dynasty Warriors: Gundam
  • Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2
  • Eternal Sonata
  • Katamari Forever
  • Lollipop Chainsaw
  • Tears to Tiara 2: Heir of the Overlord
