Time to go Region Free! ;) Or at least Region A for one player and Region B for another that's what i do.

I would but money.

Do I recall you saying you watch BR's on a desktop / laptop?

You can pick up a USB 3.0 external BR drive from amazon for about £20 which you should be able to set to region A. As long as you've then got software that can play BR's all should be good.

IMHO though it's not the buying of the ability to play BR's that's expensive... it's the BR's you subsequently buy with this new ability.

Disclaimer: don't take my word that the above will work (IMHO it should) but you should definitely research it for yourself before getting anything. (unless anyone else can give a definitive answer).

I was looking into it but I decided not to in the end because the software looked expensive and apparently compatibility can be an issue if your drive gets too old. That and the software doesn't even look that great for the money, I recall someone on here saying that sometimes you can't even use the menus so you have to go and select the title you want manually and stuff. It just sounds like a huge pain. I currently use my PS4 as my blu ray player of choice.

There is one and only one series that I would pay silly money for, and that's Fullmetal Alchemist. Be that as it may, I have gone slightly mad and pre-ordered the Collector's Edition. Is £140 equivalent exchange for what's in that edition? Who knows. Probably not. I may downgrade to one of the other editions once more information is out. The standard edition is incredible value for money. But for now I've let desire triumph over reason. We'll see what happens.

I might be tempted to buy the Limited Edition as well.

Tiger and Bunny: The Beginning is only £9 on AllTheAnime's store

http://shop.alltheanime.com/products/ti ... -beginning

Quite tempted by this myself. I haven't seen the show though so IDK if I'd be better watching that first rather than the recap movie.

Only half the movie is recap, the rest is new content. If you haven't seen the show before it's a good starting point to see if you like it, if you do then watch the series and then watch The Rising movie (as that movie takes place after the series). At £9 it's definitely worth trying :)

I see. I'll probably end up giving it a shot.

If I remember, retail versions include all the software you need and both the playback software and the drive will receive updates (you will have to download the drive firmware updates yourself, but it's more likely that software updates are required to get the latest codes for the more recent releases) so you can use the PS4 for zone B and geo locked releases and the BD drive on the computer with it set to zone A to play zone A discs (but not geo locked discs) since it should work like a regular player set to zone A and it should cost less then trying to get a region free player even if you have to get playback software, or you can just start putting money aside to get a region free BD player which should cover everything as long as the country code is set to the US.

cheers Jon, I've been meaning to pick up a copy of this, wasn't expecting to get the steelbook version for this kinda price

Not anime but a bloody bargain!! OOS & OOP EVERYWHERE so whether or not this will show up is anyone's guess. Currently going for between £25 - £35 on ebay:
Rurouni Kenshin 2: Kyoto Inferno (blu ray) steelbook - £7.89
http://www.base.com/buy/product/rurouni ... 538253.htm

While it's a great price it's still available on Amazon UK so I couldn't say it's OOP everywhere (just saying).

And speaking of Rurouni Kenshin. While the Steelbook is now out of print, I had no idea they actually released a standard edition Blu-ray - it's £7.70 on Amazon UK.

Would have preferred a standard edition. The steelbook for the first movie is the blandest cover I have ever seen. It is completely blank except for the minimalist front cover.

VERY much a case of 'your mileage may vary' with that one.

I picked it up when it was on offer previously. I was... whelmed by it. Not underwhelmed... and certainly not overwhelmed. Just... whelmed.
I think a lot will hinge on whether you find the comedy funny or not.

Do I dare start my counter again? I think I do!
It has been [1] week since HdE bought a DotW.

Trying to figure out if this is a Young Justice reference or just a coincidence...

I pretty much agree with HdE, Desert Punk has some good points but I think it works against itself sometimes. The biggest issue for many seems to be the emphasis on the main character's "pervert" side, although personally I found some of the story twists towards the end to be kind of rubbish. There's a fair amount of potential in the characters and setting but I didn't feel the show really made the most of it. Still, it wouldn't be as frustrating if there wasn't some good there in the first place. It might do a bit better for you if you're the type that can ignore the bad for nuggets of good (or as HdE says, the humour happens to specifically appeal to you).

I'd talk about specific story things but I guess you wouldn't want spoilers if you were going to watch it (and if you're not going to watch it then you're probably not interested in things that bothered me about it).

Apparently the manga is much better, though I haven't read it.

It certainly has its moments - I did chuckle at the sight of scores of Kantas chanting 'Your mother's a dirty whore! Your mother's a dirty whore!'

Yeah. That's about the level of it (and my sense of humour).

I will say, Desert punk is pretty good fun of you don't want to think too hard about what you're watching. Be warned, though - the ending is one of the worst and least fulfilling I've ever seen in anime.
