The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a thread)

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

Digifiles? Isn't that what the Viridian Collection was? Oh no.

UPDATE -

Just noticed someone responded about whether the Aniplex USA release for Garden of Sinners on DVD used Digifile cases. This is what they look like:

Note: Strong Language and some weird humour.

I personally would like to see a final picture of the whole Ultimate Gurren set before I comment on this because I'm now curious to see what the final design would look like.

EDIT - fixed typo.

Are digifiles the cases that Garden of Sinners US version came in?

Anime Limited: We're looking at more rigid ones but yes - although the replicators think they've found a way to make disc trays fit on the size of board required so we're now just waiting to hear back. Post incoming next week!

"More Rigid ones" ..That might be the ones Studio Canal have used before, like this:

That looks more rigid than the ones in the GOS video.

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

Wait, would the Studio Ghibli Japanese Blu-ray sets count as Digifiles?

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

potentially. I have a few Korean movies that are the same style but the korean sites refer to them still as digibook.

Back to the UP1USA issue, I noticed you can now see the entire list for future releases (the number used to end with 0, now it's 310) but only via selecting Next/Previous as the drop down doesn't work.

The selector for release type has never worked on the US site, I did submit a bug report about it a while back but I guess they haven't fixed it.

As for untrustworthy I'm not seeing anything being flagged up when in internet explorer, just checked with Chrome and nothing unusual there.

Remember that United Publications doesn't store your card details online, and they process all orders manually.

Actually the whole untrustworthy issue seems to be resolved as I can now access the site like nothing happened. Maybe it was maintenance.

Didn't know about the last sentence though. :!:

Yeah everything's back to normal, just put in the order Dxd New, waiting for listings of ACMI and B Gata H Kei.

If I recall correctly they had a message up when that heart bleed vulnerability was around, that's how I learnt about the fact pretty much nothing is stored online. They definitely process orders manually, that's why they don't instantly pop up in your ordered section and why they can occasionally miss something (only happened to me once with two very similar named items).

Also put an order in for DxD New now I know it's up on the website :)

Nope, it's DVD-only which means the BD-only extras are missing in the UK. Importing is strongly recommended.

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

I've been thinking about getting Dragonball Z on Blu-ray but can't decide on whether to get the recent releases or get DBZ Kai.

I've seen a few people buying Kai and a few buying the recent releases so which would everyone recommend? Do the recent releases look just as good as Kai and/or much better than the DVDs?

Also another Dragonball Question, is Dragonball GT worth watching at all? I watched the first few episodes of it when i finished DBZ ages ago but couldn't get past those first few episodes.

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

I say go for Kai Season 1,2,3,4 then get the Z blu-ray (S7,8,9) for Buu saga (since Kai is 69 eps there really isn't much cut and the Buu saga of Kai is cropped anyway).

I sent you two comparison shots via PM.

I dunno if its just me but I couldn't own just part series (the last seasons of DBZ). Kai is good as it gets straight to the point and as for the Buu saga which was cut originally, they are currently airing Kai pt2 in Japan which covers this. I'm sure it will get picked up by Funi and some point.

I recommend getting them all, but I do own pretty much every version of DBZ released in America, so I'm kinda biased.

As for GT its really rather poor.

So, Akame Ga Kill!, who has seen it so far?

I haven't but it looks to be something I would like to. I know it's still being released at the moment so I'm worried as to how long I may now have to wait for a dubbed release?!? :p

I've watched all of the current episodes available. It's a very good series but the people who seen it have been giving it a mixed reception. The main issue with Akame ga Kill is that it's got two different tones that people don't think works - A 'dark serious and bloody anime' and 'light hearted comedy with some fan service anime'. I have no problems with this but others do (like UK Anime Network & Kotaku for instance).

My only complaint was the pacing, it was quite slow to start off but it makes up as the episodes go along. There's also the censoring (I just remembered Crunchyroll's version doesn't have this) which is fixed on the home video release anyway.

Also you're better off watching it subbed because Sentai is known for their mediocre dubs.

I have mixed feelings about the show. I started off really not getting the insane levels of hype over it. The first few eps feel like your average Shonen by the numbers stuff. But it starts to get much better around 4 eps in and there's some ridiculously gratuitous violence in it, if you're into that. The OP song is ace too.

Apparently the manga gets much better as it goes along, so I imagine the anime will follow suit.

It's my #1 show for this season but it is my favorite type of anime (The shonen feels to it). It reminds me of Fairy Tail & Attack On Titan rolled into one (Don't know if that's just me). The characters in this show are great, the action is quick but brutal, the story is picking up and the pacing is becoming great lately too. I think you should definitely give it a go, also I'm usually a DUB over SUB person but the Japanese dub is quality and add's a lot to the show and I wouldn't bother waiting for a Sentai dub either.
