Is anyone else who ordered something from Madman recently finding it taking an oddly long amount of time to dispatch? I put in an order on Friday yet it my order status hasn't even changed to Preparing for Dispatch, it's still just Processing.

Yeah mines still processing as well, the money has been taken out of my bank though so it's strange it hasn't changed to 'Invoiced and Dispatched' yet

Mine still says processing. I paid using paypal so i know that its been taken straight away. All the items i ordered say In Stock - Processing Time: 3 - 4 Days. They are still just in that time frame. If nothing changes come friday then i might message them.

Funimation has the rights to Book of Circus and Book of Murder. It'll probably get a dub. No news on UK release but if its anything like the two previous sets the Blu-rays may be Region B.

It's possible Book of Circus might see a release as soon as November.

Thanks again lovely!

All this mention of BluRay releases and no dvd make me think I really need to start looking for a multi region BluRay player! :p

Yes, yes you do :) (buying a multi region capable player was one of the best purchases I've ever made)

On a related note my copy of Future Diary arrived today, rather oddly the cover artwork is different from the one advertised everywhere.

I have the original 4:3 english dub version only of akira on DVD :(
Will that spoil the film so much that it isn't worth watching (and that I should just shell out for the blu ray) or is it so good that I should just watch it anyway in it's worst available form.

There's a certain nostalgia value in the old English dub of Akira, but on a purely visual level, you just won't be getting the full effect watching the DVD - and Akira is really a film that puts mega emphasis on the detail. It's also probably a film you need to watch twice to really 'get'.

So I'll watch it once on my old 4:3 monitor on the DVD then buy it later on blu ray to watch on my 24 inch HD monitor :D (in Japanese this time). I wouldn't have minded too much if it wasn't for the fact it was the non-remastered 4:3 version (there was a "remastered" DVD version that was 16:9).

I have that old version too - it was actually the first version of the film I ever watched and it kind of shocked me how bad DVD transfers were back in the day. In terms of the visuals, the old and new releases are like night and day.

I noticed that too when I compared the original Evangelion release to the Platinum release. It really is a huge step up in quality despite the format being the same.

Well as I say, old 4:3 monitor will make it look passable. The ninja scroll DVD is the 10th anniversary edition so hopefully that will look kinda nice (obviously blu ray would be better). The thing is that I am going to have to funnel as much as my coming Christmas money into getting the monogatari blu rays so I can't really spare even small expenses.

So I recently watched Ambition of Oda Nobuna and 2 days ago finished Nobunagun... Today I put in Battle Girls time paradox and who should said time paradox take the main character to see? This must be some kind of conspiracy...

That's the treamline dub, yeah? With 'Jimmy Flinders' as Kaneda?

That dub is far superior to the more recent one, in my opinion. Loads more character.

I'm also a little eccentric in that I personally enjoy the slightly fuzzy look of the movie on DVD in it's ported-from-VHS form. Reminds me of when I first saw it on an actual VHS.

Whenever I think of that old dub I just think 'KANEDA!!!!!' 'TETSUO!!!!'

Yeah, I'm not sure the new dub really fits with the aesthetic of the film.

Yes it has, thanks for letting me know. Odd how they don't sent dispatch emails.
