The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a thread)

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

A site specific question: What's the difference between a message going to your Outbox or your Sent Messages box?

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

One has been read by the person you sent it to, one hasn't. I forget which is which so that's probably not very helpful.

Ah right. Thank's for the clarification. I'll assume Sent Messages are the ones that have been read since I have way more of them.

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

In normal messaging applications (outlook / outlook express etc). Outbox = trying to be sent, Sent Items = has been sent. So if I were to guess I would say that sent items is *more* "sent" than outbox.

I thought ga-rei: zero was DVD size. I thought I had the LE myself but turns out it's cardboard and it looks from a youtube unboxing video that there is one released as chipboard so I guess I don't although it does look in that video like the LE is DVD sized?
It's indeed DVD sized see my picture of my second-hand, hence the shelf wear :( , of Ga-Rei Zero

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

I've decided it's time I get a MR blu Ray player and I was wondering where the best place to find one is?

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

Anyone who has ordered from Madman before, how long did it take to dispatch? I ordered something on Monday night and it has still yet to dispatch. Seeing as it's Australian based, I ordered it on Tuesday morning Australian time, but still. Is this normal?

Where do people order their USA Blu-rays from these days?

UP1 would be your best bet IMO. They're dispatch all orders from the UK and are based in the UK so there aren't any import charges. Very fast turn around too.

For me:

United Publications USA - For everything related to Limited/Premium Editions

Amazon US - Prices are reasonable but DON'T USE THIS FOR CHIPBOARD SETS because they will get damaged by Amazon's packaging.

eBay - If the set just went OOP and there's some brand new left from legit sellers (like Animeshumi)

Rightstuf - Only if the item is unlikely to reach UP1. Shipping still annoys me which is why I use UP1 more than Rightstuf.

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

This kinda ties in with a question I've been meaning to ask - Is it now impossible to avoid paying Amazon US a "customs deposit"? It used to be optional and you could just choose to risk it, but now I can't seem to turn it off by selecting different postage options.

I use up1usa.com or amazon.com

up1usa charges in dollars but ships from the UK so no import charges. With amazon.com you pay import deposit with the shipping when you place your order (so amazon pay import charges on your behalf) plus if the charges are less then you get a refund on the over spend.

Would the price from Amazon not equal out to UP1 once you add in import charges? Seems like UP1 would be the best LE or not because of the faster delivery for roughly the same price when you add in the import charge.

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

I often use http://www.dvdexpress247.com/

They are reasonably competitive on a fair amount of stuff price-wise. Prices include shipping and I've never had customs charges... I think they may re-post from UK although not 100% on this.

From their FAQ's -
"We are "VAT-friendly". Items are shipped individually and most items are below the importation threshold. We guarantee that if you receive ANY importation charges, we will reimburse you."

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

Another option is DVDWorldUSA.com. I tend to use them for films rather than anime though, they're a bit expensive but they're customs friendly and usually deliver well before the US release date. Otherwise I've stuck to UP1 and Amazon US.

I miss Axelmusic...

DVDWorldUSA.com, now there's a blast from the past.

Does anyone use dvdpacific these days, or have they moved off anime now?

Thanks for the replies, I guess up1 still stands tall!

It varies on the title. Sentai Filmworks sets tend to be priced around $29.99-39.99 if you wait a little while (with newer titles priced around $42.99 and higher).

As an example ef ~ A Tale of Memories/Melodies collection is $49.97 on Amazon vs $80.98 on UP1 USA. On Amazon if you include P&P and 20% VAT (you won't get charged £8 since you paid the import beforehand) it totals $68.34 vs $85.00~ on UP1 USA with P&P.

It does vary on whether you want multiple items or individual ones, Amazon is great for individual stuff and simple sets. I stick with UP1 for Limited Editions since it's cheaper there.

I see, I had no idea there was such a gap in price for some titles.
