Anyone know if fruits basket collectors blu ray will be identical to the us sweet sixteen edition as it only includes the artcards same as that one
Does anyone know where I can get one of those Seiki multi-region Blu Ray players? My current Toshiba player basically refuses to play Region A Blu Rays anymore and I need to replace it. I know there's a listing on eBay for £79.99 but was curious if it was listed cheaper elsewhere?
I came to the same conclusion and picked one up whilst they were still available. Some are trying to flog these for almost £200...They aren't sold normally anymore. When it gets out a player is multi-region alot of 3rd party sellers buy them out to relist higher.
I haven't seen one cheaper than that in ages.

Yeah when I was researching I saw a lot that were really overpriced, even replacing my Toshiba player with the same model would have set me back quite a bit. It's the fate of all commercial multi-region players. There were a couple of Sony players that were similar, and they also disappeared quickly
I would say you could use some programs on pc, much of those that are region free being free but even that's become difficult. Some programs like powerdvd run as much in the background as chrome and they can be sluggish at reading a disc that's just been inserted and discs today have much better security so some of the free programs aren't really good at playing discs anymore. Dedicated players are still the best choice it's a shame that region frees have become so rare now, it's probably not worth the effort to make one to get past all that new security on discs when only a few people want them anymoreI really want a cheap region free player but at this point I think I own all of 2 region A BDs that I can't play (Serial Experiments Lain LE and Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine LE. I mean Persona 4 The Animation LE too but that plays on my PS4 anyway) so I don't really think it's worth it, especially when I could replace those BDs with region B ones pretty easily... But then there's so much US sets I want too.
I'm sure many people including myself have seen devilman crybaby I'm just wondering what's the appeal? Why are so many people giving it good reviews? I get that it's a director with a distinctive art style who hasn't had that much work until now, and that devilman hasn't seriously been tackled in nearly 30 years but to me the art style only ever works for the devil scene in ep 1 and the events at the end of the series, the rest of the time the colours look dull and the characters look flat, and really some scenes take too long and give little time left for more exciting scenes where the director could shine again.
I am thinking of reading the source too though, i just dont get why more people aren't critical of crybaby when other series and films Get chewed out for much smaller things then the art style and some of the plot stuff
thanks for the honest reply! the only bit of the soundtrack I really like is the one for devilman, I must be getting old as much of the rest of it sounds like it can be achieved by going out on a saturday night and listening to the local DJ murder pop music. Like I said though, I do like some scenes in crybaby, and yes, they are some of the scenes with mature content particularly heavy on violence, but it just drops in quality for me during the times where it's meant to create character development, where the audience should care who these people are, without any of those parts being any good you just have a lot of sex and violence out of context, which, while it can seem entertaining makes the plot fall flat. the director's strength seems to only be in where he's allowed to go over the top, making scenes trippy or just putting a mix of different details into something brutal. I have to say though if it's just meant to make people aware of devilman and go out and get some of the older stuff in the franchise, I think it's going to work. Its because people fanboy the director. Also because it has a great soundtrack and edgy violence they can overlook even large flaws
I'm not one for watching anime at the PC so that's a no go for me. I've just bought another Region A BD so I'm gonna have to bite the bullet sooner or later. I've got my old PS4 that I upgraded to a Pro to sell so once I move that on I'll put the money towards a new region free player.I would say you could use some programs on pc, much of those that are region free being free but even that's become difficult. Huh, had a look and it all seems easy enough. Just to be clear though, any old BD drive will do as Region locks are sorted out by software on PC, right? One method you could use (and my current preferred way of watching Region A BDs using a PC) is to just rip the files onto a hard drive and set up a Plex server, which would let you stream them in full quality to a console of your choice. It's really simple to do and I think a BD drive is cheaper than a RF player.
