The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

Sentai have Kids On The Slope and NAKAIMO - My Little Sister Is Among Them.

Also, they'll be releasing Grave of the Fireflies on BD in December...but we get before them =3.

MangaUK are asking on Twitter if people would be willing to buy sub-only Naruto movies, as it'll mean getting them out quicker (Viz take too damn long with everything).

Listening to podcast.

Berserk Movie 1, Gintama movie out on Christmas Eve. Also, Persona 4 DVD/BD was mentioned, but not sure if that was confirmed for Christmas Eve.

Journey to Agartha is out in February due to delay in getting dub.

Ninja Scroll was delayed due to Steelbook delay.

Also, MangaUK wants to know about the Japanese Ghost in the Shell blu-ray, as they are interested in giving that the steelbook blu-ray treatment.

Are they talking the original version or the 2.0 version and if the former, will it be released in a Movie pack with 2.0 and Innocence?

Also, would it be a stretch to ask them to see whether or not getting the Stand Alone Complex series on BD* as well is a future prospect for them?^

*=Yes, the series has been released on Blu-Ray in Japan, thanks for asking

^=Well can't someone dream about such possibilities?

They mean the original film, not 2.0. (Also, do you mean Innocence, not Disappearance? =3).

On a related topic though, how is 2.0? I saw it in HMV for less than a tenner the other day and I was wondering if it's worth getting if I already have the movie on DVD?

YES. A MILLION TIMES YES. Take my money, Manga. Original unmolested GitS in HD, packaged in a lovely full artwork Steelbook sans ratings stickers. My kind of release.

I'm sure that's only a matter of time. There can be no doubt it will sell incredibly well, it's just a question of when and how cheaply Western distros can get their hands on the licence.

Just in case anyone doubted it, MangaUK's Madoka blu-ray release will be Region B only and will have locked subtitles.

Also, the situation about the complete collection not being a permanent thing has yet to be confirmed.

Some days ago it was announced the Italian release, there is the first and 2.0 in one package, and Innocence in another. I suppose it will be similar everywhere.

Stand Alone Complex was the next series I wanted to buy, guess it's better if I wait a bit more.

I'd snap up GITS SAC on blu ray in an instant. And A blu ray player to watch them with. That's how much I love the show - even after FOUR re-watches.

I got an email from Sainsbury's this morning saying the Grave of the Fireflies BluRay had been pushed back from 12th November to an unspecified date. For whatever reason they don't list Totoro BD at all but it's a safe assumption that it would be delayed as well. Play.com also list Fireflies without a date. iirc this happened last year as well with Ghibli BD's put back to the new year.
