No.

However, at least on this side of the Atlantic there are legal issues surrounding the previous licence that seemingly will persist for a very long time. Given ADV had the licence in both the UK and the US, maybe the legal issues are preventing a US release too.
 
As foolish as it sounds, whenever a company says they have a big announcement I always think it's going to be Evangelion blu rays, even if it's massively improbable, then be hugely let down when it's not.
 
I'm not so sure Evangelion is improbable, at least not now it's out in Japan. Given FUNi seems to have annoyed Anno with Rebuild, perhaps he's no longer willing to work with them. And if the legal issues are to do with the zombified state ADV is now in, perhaps Section 23 have found a way to get round that?

That said, I think it'll be a year or two before the US gets Eva on BD, if the issues have been resolved, and then probably a few more years for us.

That was just a working theory, but if the contract prevent licence transfer it would probably prevent sub-licensing. (I deleted the theory from the other post, because nobody wants to read somebody that knows nothing talking about it.)

If it was a simple deal in the US, I think somebody would have it already, because they've kinda missed the anniversary boat.
 
I suppose it's possible FUNi already has it, but are focussing on getting 3.33 behind them first.

As an aside, I wonder how much heat FUNi will take if 3.33's dub really is a literal translation, like the rumours suggest it might be. Obviously they can't outright blame Khara for it, so any complaints will almost certainly be directed at them. Perhaps the heavy-handed way that was handled is scaring US companies off.
 
I think Funi already having it and just not doing anything with it yet is probably most likely which is quite a good thing as, if what we've been speculating recently is correct, Anime Limited would have first dibs in the UK.
 
I think they'll announce it, and everyone will look up and go "What?!". I mean, there's literally no way this won't be disappointing.

Andrew outright said a UK licence was a near-impossibility at the present time earlier in the year. (He was asked on a podcast if titles going OOP was hurting anime in the UK. He said, generally no, but big titles like Evangelion being unavailable was. He then said Eva was wrapped up in legal difficulties, which he found disappointing, so wasn't likely to be go back in print any time soon.) I think it's way more likely they'd just have US rights or just US and AU.
 
Disappointing to hear. Oh well, I'd be happy with an English language release anywhere at this point. Even if a UK release is off the cards, if it got an Aus release that means it would still have a Region B release.
 
I remember hearing that they'd want to wrap up the Rebuild films before moving forward with the TV version BD in the west but who knows because Evangelion is Evangelion and Evangelion is indeed Evangelion.
 
I don't know why we're even discussing FUNimation and Eva, when the news is about Sentai and an ambiguous announcement. (I should really stop posting in the news thread, because it always goes massively OT when I do.)

I think you're overhyping it a little seeing as the exact wording is "one of our biggest announcements of the year" :p

No idea what it'll be but fingers crossed it's a good'un.
 
I didn't really read their tweet, I only saw the Fandom Post article. The article is slightly ambiguously titled, but it is mostly me being silly... :p
