The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

Odds on this mainly being more One Piece and Naruto?

I jest - I hope there's some decent title announcements though - I presume this'll cover both Animatsu and Manga stuff?

Seems odd, I thought all the big announcements came that the London one. It certainly seemed that way the amount of titles that got announced at London by all 3 major Anime distributors. I'm interested to see what they have. Out of interest, when is MCM Manchester?

This weekend

Oooh, not too long to wait then. I'm kind of excited. Although the last time I got excited about a Manga announcement it actually way a new Bleach announcement and I was infinitely disappointed.

Speaking of announcements - we have at least 5-6 announcements at least - so plenty to look forward to there :D.

I'm pretty psyched about all of the so far too!

Andrew

We knew there would be a few, but 5 or 6 seems excessive.

My personal guesses are Charlotte, Classroom Crisis, Blood Blockade Battlefront, God Eater and Andrew said something about their being a Gundam related announcement, so possibly the new Iron Blooded Orphans and then one of the classic series.

Are announcements necessarily new acquisitions? Couldn't an "announcement" simply be already announced acquisition X will be getting a physical release on date Y?

Pretty sure Andrew said that all of their licenses including everything in the rights (streaming + home video) somewhere in this forum. He also said there was no point of getting the rights to titles streaming only (well the exception being Gundam Reconguista in G for Sunrise reasons).

And for announcement guessing, I guess we can safely assume one of them is perhaps Turn A Gundam. He referenced the word 'Turn' when someone asked about Gundam licenses a while back.

Sorry should clarify that I meant the announcement would be the "Date Y" part not the "getting physical release" part...

For example in the newswire;
"Q4 Releases (coming soon)*"

Well "soon" could be MCM...?

So an "announcement" could simply be matching up titles and dates for Q4...?

You don't break kayfabe :p

Because Anime Ltd. is a company that doesn't have a recent history of leaks (not only did their Aldnoah.Zero acquisition leak, but potentially one of their forthcoming announcements as well) and hasn't dropped heavy hints about announcements before...

Why would they care about "breaking kayfabe" now?

Edit: Perhaps that was a little harsh. :(

You have my attention as usual. As with MCM I'm pretty excited to see what you've got up your sleeve.

G-Reco came up in another thread, and a heavy hint was dropped that Anime Limited DO have physical distribution rights for it.

From their Facebook page:
We are investigating whether a UK release might be possible. But we may have some Gundam related news coming soon.

Oh and FYI, if a G-Reco release is possible down the line we'll be holding you to your comments. Just saying wink emoticon ^JG

I'm wondering if Anime Ltd. has the UK & Ireland equivalent to the Rightstuf deal, in which Rightstuf appears to have distribution rights to all Gundam related content, but they have to take their cues from Sunrise. (It appears to be a distribution deal, rather than a traditional license.)

There was a time were 5-6 Anime Limited announcements would have had me pretty damn excited, but at this point I'm struggling to get hyped for it, guess the fact that they've had nothing for me for a while now and that some of their pick ups have left me scratching my head has somewhat dampened my enthusiasm.

Still, interested to see what Gundam they have.

And you know what? That's perfectly fine and the way that it should be. Supporting companies is of course a great thing when you want to send a message and vote with your wallets and such, and Andrew and the crew are awesome, interacting with the community and as such of course you root for them (although lets be honest, they are not the newbies they once were anymore and probably have other distributors sweating at this fierce competition and have shown that they are serious about this, teething issues aside) but in the end, its best to wait and see what they bring and pick and choose. I know I'll be there money in hand if they bring over things that appeal to me like Gunbuster and the other Satoshi kon works and my ears will perk up when I hear the words Baccano mentioned with more information, but lets be honest 100% of the new announcements don't resonate with me at all, and that's fine because its evident that a lot of other people are in fact super excited for them :)

What titles would excite you :3?
