Aniplex USA have picked up Silver Spoon and Servant X Service.

This should bode well for Crunchyroll streaming the both of them to the UK. I'll refrain from commenting on the home video release as I would probably get banned for grotesque and mildly unpleasant use of language. Hoping for Region B to come to the rescue with Silver Spoon as with Blue Exorcist and Madoka Magica for the eventual blu-ray.

It doesn't seem like the news has gone down too well in the US with fans.

I don't feel at all sorry for them. This way we might get to see them here; if they'd gone to Funimation we'd have been locked out. I shall continue to support AoA releases in order to help strengthen their position :p

Just got an interesting email from Funimation. Remember those halted Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray releases? They're interested in starting them up again, but want some fan feedback. From the email:
Funimation said:
FUNimation is looking into releasing Dragon Ball Z on Blu-ray at an affordable price with a brand new remaster using new technology to make the show look brighter and crisper.
Before we make this decision, we need your input. Please take a few minutes to answer a few questions. Your feedback is valuable to us.
There's a survey to fill in here. Seems like they're doing it in seasons sets this time.
Survey said:
Currently we plan on 9 Season Sets in total (Episodes 1-291)
Each Season Set will be priced $44.98 retail (but you'll be able find them cheaper online and at most stores). Are you interested in purchasing Dragon Ball Z on Blu-ray?
By all accounts, the picture quality on the Funi BDs were pretty damn nice, presented in 4:3 with all three audio options from the orange bricks. If anything could get me to upgrade from the orange bricks, it would be these.

Having said that, one of the questions asks which format we would prefer the picture to be in. If you do answer the survey...please answer with the original 4:3! :p

I had that survey email from Funi about DBZ as well. I said I wasn't interested in a new release as I own DBZ orange box dvds as well as DBZ Kai bds. With regards to the ratio, I said it should be 4:3 same as with the Kai release (it would be wrong to be widescreen).

Excellent. You may have missed some "" around fans.

Given that they're asking four hundred bucks for SAO in the right format, I can't entirely blame them.

Does anyone know whether the Japanese BDs for Lagrange have the little insert bit after the OP. It's where there's a still image with part of the OP playing, I'm guessing it's where the sponsors and such would have been shown. Wondering whether Viz got the TV Masters for Lagrange since it's on their BD... It also appears that they've hardsubbed some text in, unless the dodgy overlay was in the original version.

Just posted here as well, but Viz's Blurays are playable on region B PS3s and possibly players.

I know what you mean, if I was paying that much, I'd hope I was getting a better series.
Well, Id pay £200 for Aincard but they can French Seal right off if they thing £200 is anywhere near to how much I'd pay for Fairy Dance.

I am tempted by the SAO sets, due to how damn nice they look, but I wish they were simply selling Aincrad as one set and Fairy Dance as another, instead of splitting each of those into two sets.

Also, in terms of price, UP1 have each set for £72, so it would be roughly £288 for the entire series (excluding postage).

Then wait for the cheaper SAO rerelease one day. These sets contain extras like bonus discs which will increase the price; if Funimation had got it you wouldn't be seeing a release for another couple of years, so you'd be waiting either way.

I have preordered all four sets.

Because Aniplex gouging on the right format for the series is tots OK because they packed in a bunch of **** that does nothing but clog up my shelves like so much cholesterol.

In any instance, I still haven't mastered the art of defecating money so I'll probably just wait for Manga/Kaze's (Please, God, not MVM)'s release which, if they know what's good for them, NOT pretend as if throwing in a bunch of crap will suddenly make it ok to charge a upward of £250 for a series.

Actually Kazé could probably make some good bank marketing SAO and Accel World together somehow.

I'll be pre-ordering the SAO sets once I can find another way to bring money in, considering I quit my job and all (long story short: my manager and mentor were a couple of b****s).

Don't worry, I'm sure there'll be an affordable UK release for people who don't want all of this:

(And I'm sure there'll be a cheaper US release later too. I like nice things, though.)

Couldn't help but laugh. You go on to criticise MVM yet given the recent Bakuman mess-up with Kaze, you seem happy to support Kaze over MVM.

While that SAO set does look nice, I won't be purchasing it myself.
