Couldn't help but laugh. You go on to criticise MVM yet given the recent Bakuman mess-up with Kaze, you seem happy to support Kaze over MVM.

While that SAO set does look nice, I won't be purchasing it myself.

Me neither.

I do hope we get a single 26 episode release or at least 2x13 episode releases. I'd much rather have as many episodes as possible in the same set then all those bells and whistles Aniplex USA are throwing in. If Manga do a barebones release, like with Madoka Magica, then the market is covered for many more price ranges.

And why no love for Anime Limited? Didn't Andrew say he had a good relationship with Animeplex? Granted they are still to release a title but we at least know that the man at the helm has high standards.

Recent info about Kaze standardising all releases regardless of what the source material and the whole Bakuman subtitles issue has lead me to conclude they are the one company we don't want getting anything good.

News from ANN saying that Madman are going to release Bakuman on sub only DVD in Aus later this year.

Hope they're not sublicensing from Kaze. They're in for a shock if they are. Since the US still hasn't announced a release, there may still be a new dub in the works so I'll hold out a bit longer.

Their Omission wasn't malicious. I was under the impression AL was going to be a "Criterion" Label for classic anime (and whilst I like SAO and AW, I'm not going to sit here and call them classics) and Kaze was Viz Europe and would probably get a crack at SAO it alongside Manga.

[/quote]Come again? I might not been paying much attention on Bakuman (Because, really, it's the Disney version of how Shounen Jump operates) but from where I stand; Manga's the Shounen Jump and misc stuff people who used to clown around but got their act together in recent years, Kaze is Viz Europe and has the ups and downs of such a relative megacorp and MVM are a bunch of fumblebucks who can't even make their covers not look like bootleg covers.

And Aniplex has a sock of oranges across the face with their name on it

THE GARDEN OF SINNERS

After spending two years in a coma caused by a traffic accident, Shiki Ryougi awakens with amnesia. Inexplicably, she finds, in turn, that she has also obtained “Mystic Eyes of Death Perception” in which she can see the invisible lines of mortality that hold every living and non-living thing together. Working for a small independent agency, Shiki attempts to unravel the baffling mystery behind a series of abnormal, horrifying incidents, but are they a foreshadowing that leads to something even more tragic and ominous? Things are not what they appear to be on the surface, but what dark revelations lie underneath? This is a modern occult-action thriller where Shiki must tackle supernatural incidents with her special abilities while searching for a reason to live.

On clear days, they can see the artificial island Blue Island out across the water. And rising from the center of it is the Manifestation Engine, the revolutionary invention that solved all the world’s energy problems. The peaceful future that everyone had dreamed of had arrived. VIVIDRED OPERATION will be released in a to be determined date.

BAKUMAN will be released in a subtitled edition dvd collection later this yeat/quote]

God I hope they create their own subs for Bakuman.

All these new licenses makes me wonder if we'll ever get any of Fukumoto's works here in both anime and manga form, for example Kaiji, Akagi, Gambling Emperor Legend Zero.

I bet it would do well here. I guess I'll continue to wait.

Pay a visit to the glitch disc thread in the General Forum. It will take too long to list just how Khazi have been shafting the UK consumer.

Recent screw ups... The Bakuman subtitles have been (apparently) machine translated from their French subtitle streams, not even translated from the Japanese. Unreadable at times.

Un-Go Blu-ray does not work on Panasonic Blu-ray players. Kkazi refuse to reauthor, offering one of their other crappy discs instead to people who have ordered Un-go.

General complaints. Heavy handed pitch correction on all their PAL DVDs resulting in warbling background music.
Locking all discs as standard, even when the US discs aren't.
Inability to show more than two lines of subtitles on screen at a time, which means for Japanese audio and sub fans, on screen text is never translated. Signs translation is lacking for English audio as well, See the recent Penguindrum release, which is wholly inadequately subtitled, which in a show as visual as that may as well just kill it. Same with Persona 4, with plot specfic text translation missing on the Japanese audio track.

Ridiculous standardised compression on their discs, even when it isnt required. Tiger & Bunny, Trigun both have their extras stripped from the Blu-ray and presented on DVDs instead, so that the Blu-rays could be BD25 instead of BD 50. Trigun movie has lossy audio instead of the US lossless tracks as a result and the video has compression visible. It's even worse with Tiger and Bunny, as Khazi's eps take up half the space on the discs compared to the US and AU releases.

DVD's have DD 2.0 Surround audio as standard, as that's what their authoring software spits out, even if the English source audio is a 5.1 track as in Princess Jellyfish, or plain 2.0 stereo.

The worst NTSC-PAL conversions on the planet, giving Vampire Knight, Bleach, and Nura eye-twitch inducing jerkovision.

Leaving out the Shinkai commentary on Agartha, available in US and AU.
Locking all the extras to French in Planzet, and charging the UK more than France for what in the UK is a barebones disc.

Putting the kiddie friendly profanity free version of the English dub on the Streetfighter II Blu-ray, because that's what the UK buyers steeped in nostalgia for the Manga dub will really buy it for.

But hey, if pretty packaging and cuddly toys make you moist, then by all means buy Khazi.

I'd rather have MVM and their 'bootleg' covers. Given that no UK company can release an anime without having the artwork authorised by the Japanese licensor, maybe you're whinging to the wrong direction in this case, and you ought to direct your ire eastwards instead.

Don't worry, I'm sure there'll be an affordable UK release for people who don't want all of this:

(And I'm sure there'll be a cheaper US release later too. I like nice things, though.)

That set looks so friggin nice. I was going to be buying it anyway but I'm 100% sold now. Aniplex's sets are delicious.
I wish Accel World would get a nice release since I prefer it over SAO, shame it's never going to happen. It'll probably get a barebones 1080i BD release by Viz instead. Maybe I should just import the Japanese BDs...

Funnily enough, Manga are actually releasing Fujiko here before the AU release for once, so maybe they are creating the masters themselves.
Good news that the Garden of Sinners is getting a release outside of the US, but a DVD set of it will NEVER be worth anything to me. Thankfully the Japanese BD box is re-released next month with English subs once again, so I'll be jumping over that.

Wait... there are people that seriously defend Khazi? Really?
They frequently put out ****** releases, actually, I don't think they have put out anything fault free yet. It's also blatantly obvious that they don't give a crap about us. I have no idea why Manga keeps on distributing their crap here, since at this point it does more harm than good to their reputation. Anything Khazi releases = US import from me.

I've had no issue (besides the menu locks) from the Kaze stuff I got between Prof. Layton, Persona 4 and T&B.

But that's me and I apparently live in a crazy land where the consumer is first so ignore me and continue aggrandizing MVM.

I do wish MangaUK would speak up to Kazé about the poor quality of their releases. MangaUK outright cancelled The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya on BD because it couldn't work on PS3s, yet Kazé aren't doing anything about UN-GO not working on Panasonic blu-ray players. The players in my house are Toshiba, LG and Sony (the last one being a PS3), so I'm fine, but it's still not a good thing to do.

Also, I wonder who will pick up Vividred Operation in the UK. I'm guessing it will be MangaUK? Possibly MVM?

It's basically free money is the trouble, Kaze do most of the work and they distribute, though at this time they could definitely do with removing their logo from Kaze stuff as the rep damage will start to build up

On a facebook comment Manga said "We have made Kaze aware of the complaints we’ve received."

So, fingers crossed.

I imagine the Haruhi cancellation had more to do with the fact that PS3s not running disks would be something of a huge deal (I imagine the ratio of PS3s to Full on Blurays is not in favour of the not PS3 Camp)

That's before Manga learnt just how many, or rather how few people actually use their PS3s for watching Blu-rays...
