The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

It's a solid enough adaptation (all the episodes are lifted straight from the manga) and perhaps slightly lighter in tone than the films, but I did miss Dezaki's knack for action sequences. At least from what I've seen of the show, the action wasn't as well handled as it could have been, probably betraying what must have been a tight budget. Inevitably, it also misses out any of Golgo's encounters with real people, so sadly no taking out neo-nazis for Nelson Mandela :(

I think it's at its best when Golgo's doing something weird to outsmart his opponents, and there is plenty of that though.

If you liked the films, I'd say it's worth picking up, but if you can, it might be worth trying to view some of it online before committing to it.

Manga doesn't sub-licence from Madman, since Madman only get rights for Australia and New Zealand (and South Africa on at least one occasion). Manga (and the other UK companies) often co-operate with Madman (and the other AU companies) on mastering to reduce the costs for both companies, since both are in PAL regions.

Manga does sub-license from FUNimation, since FUNi commonly grabs the UK/IE (and AU/NZ and South Africa) rights along with the US. They have also sub-licensed at least one title from Sentai (Angel Beats).

With regard to the Gantz manga ending...

I do hope we get a nice bumper complete edition in print at some point. I'd buy the hell out of that.

FUNimation has announced a slight delay in the release of Lupin the 3rd: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine DVD/Blu-ray Set (L.E) and the standard edition. Instead of the July 30 street date, the title will now be available on August 20.
Oh well, this actually works out better for me since I will already be importing GiTS Arise, KnK and the Madoka movies next month...
Wonder if this will affect the UK release date at all.

Oh yeah, the Madoka movies are out next month. Need to make sure that I have enough money in the bank for when that goes out xD.

101Anime have rescued and releasing RahXephon Complete Collection [RRP £39.99] and Lady Death [RRP £17.99] both on August 26th.

Thanks.
I liked the movies (I prefer "Queen Bee"), if the series is on the same levels then I'll add it to my want list. It's that kind of show that's not great per se, but it's perfect when you want to turn off your brain and watch some fun stuff.
I almost bought the 2 collections on DVD a couple of times, but didn't place the final order. I'm glad I didn't, since now there is the full collection on BD. I suppose it's just better to stop buying DVD on all counts, I'm sick of the number of shows I want to double dip.

Btw nice to see 101 films sticking around. Hope they replace kaze in the uk.
Those were the Eflien Lied guys, right?

Who sold said set at three times the cost to import it, correct?
Just looking AOL has the price of the set at £29.99. UP1 seems to be selling the import for £36. Not sure if the import contains the movie as well?
