It's fairly temperate where I'm located, we usually only get into single digits here maybe twice a winter, usually in February. Plus I'm located in town; we had a low of 2° F overnight, but just ouside of town they went down to -7° F. Normal temps for Christmas here is low 40's, and it's supposed to get up to 55° F next weekend for New Year's. I'm just on the east side of the Appalacian Mountains, so they block a lot of the bad weather and snow coming in from the prevailing west.

The 3rd season of "His Dark Materials" is quite good, the BBC having released all the episodes on iPlayer to allow people to watch it without having to wait for an episode per week.
