The Anime/Manga I Bought Today Was...

Rarewaves USA were (still are 3 copies left) selling the sentai collectors edition of HOTD on Amazon Italy for 20 euros. Quite possibly a mistake. Quite possible nothing will materialize. But seeing as it came to £20 inc shipping I thought I'd give it a shot.

Might want to be quick - it only went live at that price around 30 minutes ago looking at the price history... If it is an error then the longer it's left the more likely they will correct it (plus my order is sitting in their queue). Not to mention the fact there are only 3 left at that price.

I've gone for it. It's only £19.21 and I would assume it shouldn't get hit by customs. If it goes as planned then we both got a really good deal on that, especially since I already own the UK version and wanted to upgrade to that set as a fan of the series (and to have a Blu-ray version of Drifters since I have the PAL DVD).

I had a quick look. High School DxD New (standard edition) is also on there and it's listed as DVD France. I think it's a way so that the seller can get them on there at decent prices or something.
 
If it's legit then even if it gets hit by customs and even if customs doubles the price... it was still a bargain.

edit: plus my experience trying to get hold of the amazon special edition of GoT after it had sold out from amazon left me with the feeling that seller found it hard to list something as something it wasn't (maybe amazon uses barcode or forces EAN?). (They sold the amazon special edition but were trying to sell it as the regular edition as it didn't have the extras disk)...

I'm not sure what's going on with the Stock. When msgeek posted it he said there were 3 then he later siad there were 1 then Black Strat bought 1 meaning there should be none however I just put an order in too and it still says one left. I guess we'll see.

Actually it took me a while to post so when he said there was only one left it was likely due to my order.

Looks like the stock is all gone now though.
And then there were none...
 
NOW it says they're all gone. I'll have to see if my order gets cancelled or not. I wouldn't be too heartbroken if it does, I only had a punt because the price was cheap. Are these out of print or something? What is the normal going rate?

The sets are still available on Amazon US, Rightstuf etc. The normal price I last saw was about ($119.98) £76.90 on UP1USA and ($90.43) £57.96 on Amazon US, all exc. shipping etc.

A lot of people (especially in the US community) already own the series so the set will last a fair bit longer than usual especially since the price tag is rather high for okay content (the set itself looks great though). Plus the Blu-rays and DVDs were re-authored to include the Drifters OVA so I'm rather curious.
 
Well there were 3 left after msgeek's order so it should be good stockwise.
Retail price is $150 but it sells for $90 on Amazon US
 
Wow, that is cheap then. I also (probably should have asked this BEFORE I bought) want to ask about the region of the blu rays. I assume they're Geo Locked to the US or can be bypassed using the usual method?
 
There are a lot of other good prices on amazon IT by the same seller (rarewaves). I've taken a punt on some others seeing as my HOTD status changed to preparing for dispatch. there are others besides the ones in the screenshot below that I didn't order...

I have found a couple that I'm interested in, but I noticed the shipping will go up a lot. So for now I'm ordering one item now and another later on.

So for now I have ordered Tenchi Muyo: War on Geminar Part 2. Because I need to order more parts but I don't want to pay £30 or so on them. £11.18 for this set overall.

It's a shame the other titles that I need to own the second half aren't in the good deal - Eureka Seven, Eureka Seven AO, Guilty Crown, Last Exile: Fam, The Silver Wing, Michiko & Hatchin, Robotics;Notes and Shakugan no Shana Season 3.

UPDATE: Got Elfen Lied for under £10. That's enough for me, shame I don't have more spare cash for those Sentai titles but I would rather not go overboard in case something bad happens.

I'm guessing we won't find out until monday for sure... But I've ordered a couple of others... I think I recall something like this happening for UK marketplace sellers due to price matching software they used and amazon forced them to honor the sales... I probably won't buy more as it feels like I'm starting to take advantage...
