Rate the Last Anime You Watched Out of 10

Started working through my Studio Ghibli backlog yesterday. I watched From Up on Poppy Hill yesterday and Tales of Earthsea today.

From Up on Poppy Hill - 9/10

Loved this film, always do love a good coming of age film. It's a good contrast to the standard fantasy Ghibli films. I watched the dub and found it to be really well done.

When it got to the part of the story where Umi & Shun thought they were brother and sister i was turned off abit as i felt it was going the typical soap-opera route but luckily they turned it round soon after by revealing Shun was actually the son of Umi's father Yūichirō best friend, Hiroshi.

Tales of Earthsea - 5/10

Kinda wished i watched this before From Up on Poppy Hill as i didn't like it much at all. Found it quite boring at times and didn't find the characters that interesting or if they were meant to be they weren't developed very well, an example would be Arren a prince that had a split personality, killed his father, stole his sword, ran away and then joined up with Sparrowhawk with no explanation why he killed his father and stole his sword. I found the dub to be just average for this one, no performances really stood out.

Seems i agree with most of the negative reviews for the film here as it's my least favorite Ghibli film. Luckily Goro Miyazaki learned from this and made a really good film with From Up on Poppy Hill.

My next Ghibli film will be My Neighbours the Yamadas, going into it with low expectations due to its wierd art style/animation :lol:

Fairy tail episodes 1 - 84

This beats naruto any day, it's got likable characters erza in particular with her strong independent I don't need a man to save me, woman.

There must of been at least 10 arcs in these 84 episodes and each of the characters has a good backstory and each one was fun to watch.......fairy tail is is a child friendly version of the naruto but still enjoyable to watch.

Although when it comes to the fights or starting fights they seem to shorten them or rush them but there still.enjoyable.

I love the characters
I like the stories aka arcs
The animation is one piece .....sort of. But not as wacky
There's a lil bit of fan servies but it's only a little bit but it's more for the imagination to settle.

This is worthy of becoming one of the new big 3 but in my opinion better then naruto.

Hell girl first season

O_O ...........Oh Jesus Christ ..........God damn

I swear this series is sooooooo intense. I couldn't keep my eyes off it.

To start off I hate and like this series

I hate it because people are being sent to hell but I like howhajime is trying to convince people revenge is wrong and what hell girl is doing is wrong

It's about a girl who gives people dolls with strings on them and if they pull it there victims will go to hell ................And here's the thing I have with this problem of the series

There's a lot of people in the series who doesn't even come close of deserving hell.... sure there's a few assholes there and there and there is a few who deserve to go to hell but there's a few who doesn't even come close to go to hell, ok there's people who have done you wrong and your sending them to hell..............And you'll go to hell to after you die..............

Now here's the problem with these idiots

They find out there's a hell and a heaven and like idiots the pull the string and now there bond for hell

First off even if someone has done you wrong life is short and the after life is forever you can just whip the dust off and move on with your life

But with some of there's characters reasons for sending there victims souls to hell is just stupid

1 a girls dog dies and she hates the vet
2 a twin who gets all the attention and the other doesn't
3a girl with a doll sends a innocent man to hell because she thinks he killed her dad
4 a nurse who did nothing wrong what so ever is sent to hell for no reason by a psychopath

I hate people who look for revenge it never ends well.

It was good but I hate for what it is but it was fantastic

Hell girl second season

Just like the first season

Each episode with its own story and its so intense and believe me it's sooooo intense and like the first season there's a new story I won't give anything away but iv made a decision on something....................... from now on I'm staying away from small towns and villages cause in some series like another, shiki, hell girl dusk maiden something tells me most of them are crazy hicks.

Il say it again .........I don't like this series but I'm enjoying it alot, the charecters who are sent to hell didn't even do anything that bad to be sent to hell and it like this........with great power comes great responsibility...........

I mean come on the people they sent to hell wasn't even that bad and the reasons why they sent there victims to hell is ridiculous here's a few

1 scratching a car
2 to keep someone quiet but gets found out later
3 a boss who is just doing her job
4 a nurse who didn't do anything wrong
5 a major who didn't do anything wrong
6 blackmail
7 dogs
8 dog

Some more of these are ridiculous reasons to send some one to hell.

I'd understand if it was a mass murder or a pedo but damn......No pun intended the reasons are stupid

Nearly all the characters in this series are idiots

Who here has Seen hell girl and knows what I'm talking about.

It's a great series but damn.

Hell girl season 3

Omg iv done it iv finished hell girl, I thought I was going to have an heart attack watching this series the suspense in this is intense.

The 3rd is like the 1st and 2nd seasons and each one had a few episodes near the end that didn't have someone going to hell,

But the one in this was so f****** sad my throat hurts and it made me hate humans even more......If youv seen it you'll know what I mean.

The reason why they send there victims to hell is ridicules but it's extremely intense and I still don't like this series because people who did something less then murder got sent to hell.

The stories even tho most of them are ridicules

Hell girl is a good series I hate and I wish they could make a season 4 and 5 and try to defeat the spider and free the souls of hell

Ghost in the Shell second Gig 9.5/10
Enjoyed this even more than first Gig and that was one of the best final episodes I've seen for a while.
 
Blue exorcist

Typical shonen anime............It's good but I can't help but feel it was rushed.

Animations nice
Story was alright but it could of been better
The characters.....typical shonen characters

Ghost Hound 8.5/10
Very enjoyable series with very interesting characters but the psychology got confusing and the ending was kinda anti-climatic.
 
Dandoh the super shot

As much as I like sports anime.....this series on how luck plays in this game is ridiculous and I know I shouldn't take it seriously but sometimes I was like.......What???????? Not that I don't know the game but sometimes the ball does crazy things like going up the pole and such and animation looks cheap but it wasn't bad bad, and the main character dandoh who recently started playing is now an expert at it at least in big wind where they play base ball at least he was practicing it since he was young and is super good at it.

I found it boring and ridiculous at times but I learned a little bit about golf now

Eden Of The East - Paradise Lost

Sadly not as goof as the first film. It did make me miss the series though.

I'm also attempting Bleach Season 8 again since I have so many of the series to buy still! Upto disc 2. I'm finding this the hardest season to get into :(
 
The Wind Rises

I saw this film in the very last showing of my Arts Picture House and the cinema was still packed with people from all walks of life. A wall in the foyer was also home to a collage of Miyazaki movie images, which really is a testament to both the film and Miyazaki to be honest.

Is it the best Studio Ghibli film? I wouldn't say so. However, it is the most intelligent and serves as the perfect send off for Hayao Miyazaki. It was thought-provoking, poignant and powerful. It was also brutally honest about Japan - it was a perfect fit for Miyazaki. It did have its flaws, such as Naoko not receiving as much attention as I think she should have and I felt that it did drag at times, but on the whole, it was a remarkable movie and easily one of the most powerful I have seen in a very long time.

Now, I have to see Frozen just to see how the hell it beat this film for the Oscar.

Seasons 3 and ovas

First off I'd like to say that I like dawn of the shinsengumi season, chizuru wasn't there, this is the 3rd season but I think it should be the first season.

This series is a mixture of history and fantasy and despite it trying to learn me something about the shinsengumi ......I just couldn't get in to it.........not that it's bad or anything, I just couldn't get in to it,

Yes it has good animation
It has good charecters
The action is alright
The story isn't bad

But there are some characters that we don't have time to get.more out of like the brother,

It's a good anime but it didn't caught my interest.

Haganai - 8.5/10

Haganai NEXT - 9/10

Really both funny shows with a lot of great characters in them. The dub is spot on and so is the animation throughout the series. I prefer NEXT due to the fact that they get out the club room more. Plus Shanks's English voice actor is in Next which is always a plus!
 
Blue Exorcist: The Movie

A rather enjoyable follow up to a series I enjoyed much more than I thought I would. As always it has a likeable cast and the story throughout is rather endearing.
