Eureka Seven (Ewrekka 7 1-50) - 9.5/10
Started watching this on Blu-ray on Monday, finished it last night. I'd say it really is one of the best Sci-Fi/Romance stories I've seen so far. It's the longest Anime I've seen up to this point but it never felt like it was dragging.
It has one of the most likeable character casts and there are a massive amount of them. I found Renton to be one of the most charming little protagonists possible. He is like a much less needy version of Simon from TTGL. I got plenty of feels from watching the show too, it's a sad story that sometimes feels like it isn't going anywhere fast, but it's always a pleasure to spend time in that World.
The Mecha aspect of Eureka Seven was a real highlight. I loved the battles and the relationships between Renton/Eureka and the Nirvash and how it evolved. The ending was stunning and very surprising.
I watched it both subbed and dubbed and I don't have a favourite as they were both done brilliantly. The music needs to be spotlighted too as this has a seriously kick ass soundtrack. I absolutely loved 2 of the OPs and 2 of the EDs. The music when battles were going on was very effective too.
Blu-ray quality was good, it looked pleasing if not a little rough in certain spots. Plenty of banding present but I am lead to believe that is inherent from the source. There were a couple of slight hiccups with some missing subtitle dialogue but I still say it was a solid job done and a bargain price.
It ended with some real elegance and I loved it!
