To start off I watched the commentary while watching so it and apparently this series was the first series adv licenced which is interesting. And a few other things that was interesting or also tells you why there isn't a 4 th episode too.
This series is great for a oldie it's not really a ground-breaking show but it's worth a look.
A girl who is the 108th in line to be the next hunter to Hunter devils. And that's pretty much it.........it came out in the late 80s so this series is a piece of anime history.

And thus my Shinichiro Watanabe viewing trifecta is complete. As opposed to Cowboy Bebop and Kids on the Slope, which were excellent, I found this merely very good. Whereas the other two were uniformly great, this was mostly above average with some brilliant episodes inbetween.
So what did I find appealing here? The anachronistic hip-hop soundtrack comes to mind. It's not overdone, it doesn't stray into gangsta territory. Rather it's of the slower, more meditative variety, reminiscent of the RZA's work on Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai (one of my all-time favourite movies, by the way).
Then there's the characters and their interactions. Clearly they'll never be BFF's, but regardless it is fun watching them develop their camaraderie.
The swordplay is also a high point. There's little in the way of looped animation,and the fights are both frantic and lucid. The standout for me would be Jin dispatching of a gunman,and how the animation captures his speed and his efficient movements without resorting to quickfire editing.
However, watching this after Kids on the Slope and Cowboy Bebop definitely took away from the overall shine. It took a while for me to warm up to the series, and the really great episodes (Jin's dalliance with the prostitute; the group's encounter with the blind musician; Mugen's past life as a pirate) only start from around the halfway point onwards.
Through it all, Samurai Champloo is still solid viewing, and so earns 8/10.

This is a light hearted anime that the manga carries on.

Ninja Scroll
Ninja Scroll in the modern anime landscape could very well be compared to an old boxer coming out of retirement to do battle against a younger generation of faster fighters. In its heyday, it’ll tell you, it fought tooth and nail with the likes of Akira and Ghost in the Shell for consumers’ disposable income. The landscape has changed since then. The heroes have become younger to be more relatable to a younger audience, and cross-merchandising more aggressive - clearly not a good place for a once-off, adult-orientated feature film.
And you know what? Ninja Scroll smokes them all. There’s a visceral quality to the action scenes that very few titles today would even consider depicting. The story is as complex or as simple as you the viewer want it to be. If you just want to see Jubei – he’s called a ninja, but surely “ronin” would be more apt – move from slaying one foe after the other, no problem. If you crave your backstory and want a deep-rooted reason for the bloodshed, you’re also covered.
The Sentai blu-ray scores an AV hit. Picture is clean and colours are much more vivid than on my previous dvd copy. The DTS MA-HD soundtrack is an all-enveloping affair, much more so than the dvd’s DTS-ES soundtrack – which was no slouch, believe me
So yes, Ninja Scroll still has pride and place in a modern collection. 9/10 it is then.

Oh boy prepare to hear my rant on how much I freaking hate this series and that's because of one character
Yamato-
OMG THIS kid is thee most annoying f***** ever ever ever and here's my list of why I hate him so much........
1, he comes on to quickly ( and no I'm not being dirty) at a girl he only just meet.
2 even tho she rejects him he cries about it.........What the hell youv only just meet her not known her all your life.
3 he starts going to the track team in order to get close to her ( can you say stalker)
4 he gets angry at her over the most smallest things a tsunadre would say, and he says who does she think she is talking to me like that.
5 he goes out with a girl he doesn't like and he does it to make him self feel better -
Not only that but he goes out to buy the new girl a present with the girl he likes to buy it for her and even after finding out that he went with his first crush to buy the present and she forgives him, all he can do is talk about suzuka when he gives her her gift.
6 he acts more like a child when things don't go his way....... in fact that's what he is.... a child.

9 even after she rejects him he stops coming to practice while everyone on the team is counting on him.........talk about a selfish guy.

If ripped 15 New ones in this series because of this character ..........this series is called suzuka and the main focus of the series is yamato who keeps trying to get a girl to like him and he does things for my reasons to have her.
Suzuzka and the other girls deserve better then this idiot he's a stalker.

I will admit, i can see why people would love this movie, i can't at all seem to get into it.
This is probably my fourth time watching the movie (first time on Bluray though) and i will admit it looks FANTASTIC on Bluray! But how no matter how many times i watch it, i just cannot get into it!! The fights, are too short, the only likable character is Jubei and the story is kinda naff. In my honest opinion, i find the movie overrated.
ALthough not everything is bad. The animation is marvelous for 1993, and while the fight scenes are rather brief, they midly entertaining. and even though he's the only likable character (well.....Dakuan was decent aswell i guess) Jubei is a complete badarse. I absolutely love the Wind Slash move he does with his sword!
Overall, Ninja Scroll, IMO, is only a decent movie. But see it for yourself anyway. Personally, i'll stick with Ninja Scroll: The Series. It's actually one of my most favorite anime series of all time!

The story is like what iv seen in other anime before a guy meets a girl with powers and he gets this power and now he's one of the group's finest it's interesting in he beginning what the group is trying to do stop an organization from taking over but at the end of the first half its like that last episode should of been the last but it makes up for it for later on episode's.
I was told that the second half is crap and at first it is but as it goes along it gets really interesting whenone of shus friends dies and he becomes a tyrant in his school and not only that the area there in is quarantined because of a viras and this is also interesting but the one of the two chrecters who are interesting is,
Shu and Arisa
In the beginning shu is the whining guy that'd almost like kenchi from Eva but in the second half ................omg he takes a turn and because a tyrant after a friend dies and everything back fires on him.
Arisa is my favourite charecter in this series and here's why,
In the beginning she sticks up for shu when someone was calling him a terrorist.
She helps him to get his pink haired friend back.
It's thanks to her void that everyone on the ship was saved.
She tried to calm everyone in the school.
She gets help from her grandfather to help everyone.
She takes shus side when he became a tyrant.
She was a S class void user thanks to shu.
She's been nothing but a friend to him.
And when she finds out about what happens to the voids when there destroyed she tries to tell the students what Shu is doing but is stopped by pink hair an scares her traumatizing her and when shu finds out pink hair attacked arisa he tells them to look the other way.
She then uses her body at one of shus cronies even tho she hates her self doing it to get information to the students to betray shu for what he has done

To me her actions are justified and I don't blame her for taking the other side like everyone else did.

To start off I love Suigintou she's my favourite doll and I hated seeing her suffer like she did in this but I'm glad she got her own mystica and its sad to see shiku and suigintou fight And hate each other, in my opinion I think shiku is the one in the wrong she treats suigintou not as a dozen maiden but a regular bill and I think she was jealous of siugintou for being the first doll made, in fact I think she's the worst shiku I mean, hell she doesn't even help her when she thinks she's dying. But I'm glad she's ok.
