Post a photo of your entire anime collection!

Yeah I think a hybrid order format as per personal preferences works best, and ultimately whatever helps you find what you're looking for. I recall spending ages looking for some deal-of-the-week set that I was sure I had purchased already, but couldn't for the life of me find anywhere in my haphazardly thrown together mess. Still a mess but I think I can at least better search within it now and avoid buying the same sets twice 😅

I now have a large Kallax built and ready to be fed with a plethora of goodies. To be honest I'm having trouble deciding what to put where. I have nothing but free time this weekend so going to dedicate that to organising everything. Would like to get a few new posters up and framed as well so probably won't get it all done this weekend. It has begun.....

Good luck with organising everything! Please share your photos and top tips, so that I may better arrange mine in those Kallax squares, which are currently giving me a headache whenever I look at them😅

Sounds like a good way to organise. I generally go with creator, genre and franchise but clearly I like to make things difficult for myself because that can get messy. :)

For example do I put the whole Patlabor franchise with Mecha shows/movies or with Mamoru Oshii's other standalone films/TV?
In terms of genre they're arguably comedy as well as Mecha which also complicates matters.

It would definitely be weird to separate his Ghost in the shell films and put them with other one off Oshii works since it's part of a larger franchise. I mean the other entries sometimes involved him in some way but he didn't direct them all so those are easy enough.

However......what about the Kerberos series? After all he directed both of the live action films The Red Spectacles and Stray Dog that both take place in the same universe as Jin-Roh, which he also directed. Do those 3 films go on the shelf together? they're all part of the same series and directed by the same guy but two are live action and one is animated. Should i stick these two alongside my other Japanese movies? Oshii directed other films that were stand-alone, do I just put his live action films that aren't connected to any anime together and keep his ones that are mixed media but linked together on the same shelf?

What about anime based on American properties which i also own movies of? Does Batman: Ninja go with Batman movies or anime? or alongside Batman: The animated series?

These are just two examples of the conflict in my brain 😅

Hello! Ran across this post sometime this week while trying to find any remaining physical media of Red Ash - Magicicada.

It's surprising to see any post even more so a picture what became of that project. Thank you for that photo.

I'm a huge Megaman fan, from what I've read, this was meant to kickstart a successor of the series, but didn't go any further than one episode and 1 game demo after Mighter Number 9's poor reception.

It's a bit of a stretch, seeing this is a post from 2018, but if by any chance you still own this Blu Ray and have any interest in parting with it, please let me know. I would love to work something out if possible. Just let me know what communication best works for you (Email, Discord, etc).

Cheers,

Thanks for the post, nice to see another fan. I still have the blu-ray and the artbook etc but I'll be honest I haven't thought of selling it. I do wish you luck in trying to track down a copy.

Thank you for the prompt response!

Understandable, until today, I've only been lucky enough to pick up the Artbook, but no Blu-ray. If there is anything I can do on my end to make you change your mind, let me know.

And if not, all good, I collect as well, I get it. If you have a change of heart or different priorities down the road, feel free to reach out. I'm open to trying to work something out.

In the meantime, I wish you best of luck!

Cheers,

What order is that even in 😹😹 it was bad enough seeing 2.22 before 1.11 in the pile of shame

But the whole collection....
Pile of Shame isn't an meticulous order, its just it sits under the TV to remind me :D

I go by original release date because
a) Alphabetical means sometimes you get a series out of order, or scenarios where a Liz & The Blue Bird would be nowhere near Sound! Euphonium

b) so then people start grouping by 'series' and 'who directed it' or even more ad-hoc internalised sorting like 'these are the PA Works 'job' series'

c) Even if you get around that you get releases split across publishers with inconsistent designs

But original release date overcomes all of this 'ick' I find with the above sorting methods. It is simultaneously perfectly logical and entirely chaotic. It is the perfect sorting system (in my mind!). Of course we all have to live with imperfect sorting system (unless you exclusively stock Criterion then you go by their release number) and it could be the worst possible sin sorted by spine colour.
