This is my collection as of May 2019, although I used to have a hell of a lot more a decade ago when I pretty much had mainly DVD collections - I try to keep a streamline collection with stuff I know I would watch again and again; in particular I am proud to own the original JP Blu ray Box of Ergo Proxy, which is my all-time favourite Anime and is long OOP. This edition appears to sell for £500 plus on various online retailers. As well, I love my AnimEigo Kickstarter BD sets .

Ooo yes, I do love my JP Ergo Proxy Blu-ray Box - the finish on the outside box is so velvety smooth to the touch... Glad to see someone else with a copy in their collection, nice pick! The series is one of my top favorites as well, and fits my Girls with Guns anime theme, too!

I literally spent years scouring eBay, Japanese retailers and other sites for this edition and barely found nothing, but when there was a copy, you would be talking £500 - 1000! However, two years ago, someone on eBay from Birmingham had a sealed copy for £150, but I haggled it to £120. Felt like bloody Xmas when I got it! To top it off, it is Region B and has English Dub!

Girls with Guns Anime Collection

My anime collecting is primarily focused on English friendly JP releases, Korean Lenticular LE sets, and Aniplex of America releases. Just those fill one entire 36" wide, 8-shelf media unit - 6 shelves of JP and KR sets and 2 shelves of AoA titles - and still growing!

My only complaint with the JP Ergo Proxy release is that it is English-dub-only - I'm a diehard subber, so I also have Funimation's Anime Classics DVD set and their more recent Blu-ray release so I am able to watch the series in Japanese with English subtitles.

First of all there were these little wood pegs I had to glue into the top, bottom and the middle shelf, that was all I needed it for though see glue in hell!
It was pretty straight forward at that part, then came the tacks to support the back... and me without the hammer, meh well a random heavy wrench did the job. The doors are glass and the hinges were a bit fiddly, but that actually took less time than the tacks.
All in all, about 3 or 4 hours straight work

Well, in the end it took my entire collection (apart from the stuff I still have for sale) but... it filled up the whole thing!
Hmm... The brother has the big room in the house... should I go all freiza and just take some of his estate for my own?

Very nice. It's been a while since I've had a look at this thread and I realised it's been a long time since I had made an update on my complete anime collection (double-checking the last update was on 30th December 2017... well I have my reasons for the long gap between then and now). I can't do it right now, but I am hoping to offer an update before the end of the year.

Viz Media doesn’t really focus that much on limited editions like they used to, but I did pick up one for the collection. Sailor Moon is still up in the air but if the opportunity is there I may get the remainder of the Viz sets despite the video quality. Universal Pictures has finished distributing anime because they over-estimated the UK market but there’s one new addition for the collection. MVM, on the other hand, has a couple more titles for the collection, and I plan to add more titles from them in the future.

Aniplex of America and Aniplex of Japan remains to be one of the most expensive distributors for the collection. Surprisingly I have decided to tone down on getting titles from them in order to catch up, but I will still continue to keep consistency for some of the franchises. Positioned next to the Aniplex sets are a couple of anime sets from various distributors. Bandai Visual in both the US (Honneamise) releases and for the first time in my collection, a Bandai Visual Japanese release. Carrying over from the previous updates are the Pied Piper Time of Eve set and the Nozomi Nadesico DVD set.

The new Aniplex of America additions are:

Much like Aniplex, I also eventually decided to tone down on Sentai's limited edition front. Fortunately, I now have pretty much every special release they have so far, outside of maybe one or two but they aren't a priority at this point. For NIS America, as the distributor has stopped focusing on anime I haven't bought anything new from them. As for Anime Limited's ultimate edition range, only one new addition has been added.

Moving onto the original shelf, I have changed the positioning around now that I have more space. However, this shelf is going to need a bit of a revamp in the future since I want it to focus solely on books and visual novels, so in the meantime, there are regular Blu-ray titles across the various rows.

The first row covers the light novels which I had been aiming to acquire more of over the recent years. The visual novels are primarily unchanged as I decided to switch focus towards console versions and when available the digital releases of the original games because the physical market went towards kickstarters in the most expensive fashion.

Spoiler: Section 7: Standard Edition Anime Releases

As I mentioned earlier there are a few PlayStation games here in this row, but I'll save that for the actual game collection update later.

Funimation and Sentai Filmworks regular releases don't exactly get that much for me personally. It's primarily due to the fact that they last so long to the point where there's no rush to buy them, and there are also other factors to take note of, such as the pricing and how the re-releases tend to be better in both disc authoring and/or for the shelf. The Studio Canal Ghibli collection is also another problem of not bothering much with the distributor because there's plenty of time to get their releases.

Meanwhile on the UK side, a lot more focus has been placed on the Manga Entertainment collection as they have been improving their releases in recent years. MVM standards are also included but will be expanded upon soon. Funimation UK has a few more additions but their distribution in the UK has technically stopped for now but a final batch will be here in January.

The new Anime Limited addition is:

I've been seeing a lot of plastic sleeves in peoples collections, what sort of protection do they offer? Shouldn't anime just remain in good condition if you keep it on your shelf, what can happen if you don't put your collection in these sleeves?
