[Overseas] Anime News & Announcements

I take it that's from an anime panel or something, so who knows if it's been misconstrued. Could just mean "AL France has everything (including the movies of the series that we have) so we'll see if we can share costs on them"

Hopefully it's the full SAC series though :/

An AL/Manga collaboration would be pretty neat to see. Hopefully it's an AL Style CE at Manga/Animatsu prices :p

You're laughing but this isn't that bad an idea. If the discs are the same, CE fans could import from France (AL's FR releases are generally cheaper too :), hence why the presence of English subs/dubs is generally kept discreet) and standard edition fans could buy from Manga...

I'm assuming that Ghost in the Shell will still be a 10-15 year old DVD-era transfer? With it nearly being 2017 (and the opportunity to capitalise on the live-action film release), it could really do with a new 4K scan/restoration.

I'm sure it would make the heads of some UK anime fans explode though. A release that's both Jerome and Andrew would be impossible for them to comprehend, surely?

Shouldn't be, iirc Stand Alone Complex was the first anime in Japan broadcast in HD so the BD version should be HD native and not an upscale.

I'm speaking of the original 1995 film which, to my eyes anyway, looks like an older transfer (letterboxed for one). It's not bad, but it certainly looks like a 1080p scan from the early 00s rather than a 2k/4k scan.

There is a better master for the original film, as broadcast on Japanese TV in HD, but Jerome has said the upcoming UK rerelease will be the same master as the previous release.

No, it's easy. Andrew would be responsible for everything even vaguely good to do with the release and Jerome would be responsible for the all the ills of the release.

Kind of like they are with the UK anime industry as a whole, right now...
