Neon Genesis Evangelion

I know this is slightly off topic but does anyone have or have played any of the NGE video games?
Just been looking up the Super Robot Wars series for the PS2 and i'd love to be able to play as Eva's.
Anyone else heard of it?

I haven't played them. But I've seen some of the playable videos on yewt00b. I saw the PSP one to be specific. LOOKED nice. But I think it probably doesn't have a long gameplay. I saw Shinji walking around a classroom. I THINK There might have been a Evangelion fight as well. Nothing to go over the tops about.
 
So. . . .Its a big budget Evangelion cash in. They have in movie advertising space. :eek:

Oh. and Rei fanservice by the looks of things.

Not exactly mega ultra hyped by the looks of things. We'll see with the last two movies methinks.
 
Those were good reviews! The movie seems to be just what I want it to be, really. Also, I can't wait to see Kaworu and that new female character in the next movie!

Well they had to help fund it some how lol

And i just don't get fan service, despise it lol.

Looking forward to seeing Kaworu's role in part2 and this new female character, hope she's not just a merchandising excuse.

Well, product placement is something that can be found in most movies that will be probably be popular - Evangelion isn't going to be an exception, I think.

Fanservice is just ... pointless and annoying! If you want to be aroused by something, go out and buy a Playboy or something, don't demand it in shows that really don't need it (Code Geass, for example).

T&A Fan service i have to agree is somewhat pointless, but other forms of fan service are great. Things like cat spotting in Trigun, guest stars/ props from other shows or even highly technical references (most of the science of Planates) are all fan service of sorts.
 
Yes, but the kind of fanservice I'm talking about is the mindless sexual kind. I don't think there should be no sexuality in anime, or that there shouldn't be any eye candy, but it gets a bit ridiculous in some shows.

The other kind of fanservice, that you just mentioned, is fine by me, really!
 
Aye i agree that fanservice in anime is pretty annoying, its just the fact that anime is more overt in its presentation than other mediums. Not the fact that it does it any more than live-action.

ALL shows have fanservice to a certain degree. Notice how 90% of the women in tv are at least pretty good looking? Any uggos are relegated the the "evil" slot or as an extra. Anime just lets the side down with those damn panty shots, lose them and everything would be gravy :)

Any news on raw footage of Rebuild out yet? Im so tempted to just watch it with no subs, i mean we cant miss that much can we? Its the same story with some new additions and a new ending! I can at least get the gist of whats going on! :D

Unfortunately not, i've been searching so damn hard but can't find any available so far, i'll let ya know when i do if anyones interested PM me.
 
Hahahaha very nice - that was the actual dub voice actor for Shinji as well wasnt it? I've heard such awful things about the dub that i've steered well clear of it so im not exactly sure....
