Fellow gacha gamers, still liking Sword of Convallaria, but I wouldn't mind doing one more along with it.

Any recommendations for good ones? can be releasing soon or already out.

I appreciate:
  • Works OK as f2p (don't mind a bit of spending if the game is good).
  • Fun gameplay when pushing new content. I don't mind auto/sweep on stuff I've done before.
  • PC client if possible. I don't really want to play on my phone but optional for this is nice if it has both.
  • PVE focus. I don't care for PVP and ideally all PVP would be skippable.
Any suggestions?

Thanks Saho, so you're playing just Zenless and HSR at the moment (that one is both on hold and currently playing!?)

I am a little colour blind so depending on the colours used and how I can struggle to tell them apart a bit! :)

The ones on hold are just that because awaiting new content or paused due to starting others? I can't imagine playing like 10 at once.

I don't think I'd want like a hack and slash style game, are there any in the list that you would say would fit my bill but lean more towards strategic or turn based?

P.S. any new ones coming on the near horizon which you're thinking to start?

HSR I only login for dailies but haven't made actual progress in over a year of content.

Paused as I can barely juggle two at the same time.

Arknights (Tower Defense), Atelier Resleriana (Turned Based RPG), Blue Archive (Real Time Strategy RPG) and Honkai Star Rail (Turned Based RPG)

There's so many upcoming gachas that I wouldn't be able to recall off the top of my head. Though if I dig deep, there's a few I've got my eyes on that's covered in this video

Honkai Star Rail is great Fate Grand Order is good if you like the IP and very f2p friendly. Zenless zone zero like saho said is a good one too and still very new too.

SAHO mentioned it already, but Arknights is very accessible on a f2p basis, especially if you like it enough to stick with it. No direct PC client unfortunately, but there are workarounds for that if you want to play it on desktop.

Having looked through things I think I'll pick up HSR, it looks good and I like turn based stuff.

I need to look into re-rolling on it to see if I can get a decent start with the free pulls at least, but it sounds like it does throw a good deal of free stuff at you.

Edit - Although I may not bother, can just play with the hand I am dealt, in a way more fun than messing about with re-rolling. Dealing with challenges is more fun :)

Like I said above I'm not as active in terms of progress and character builds. Hopefully in this patch I'll start making movements in both HSR and Genshin. ZZZ is the priority at the moment.

You can still add me to access my character supports. Though do expect the builds aren't at their best
UID: 700033517

Certain other players here or from AUKN HSR discord post will have more exceptional supports to use 😅

I disobeyed myself and wound up re-rolling a bit, I did 3 rolls in the end. Turned out I had enough email addresses to do like 10 or more rolls but I didn't really want to sit there forever doing them.

Roll 1
Gepard 5* ☠️
Dead to me as I wanted a 5 * waifu to begin with and not a husbando.
At this point I decided I would roll until I got Bronya or Himeko as I liked their models.

Roll 2
Bailu 5*
Tingyun 4*
Qingque 4* (I think this was the additional one I had, I'd have to check)

Roll 3
Bronya 5* ❤️
Hook 4*
Natasha 4*

I did waste a few jade crystals on Roll 3 as I wanted to dee who my 5* was and I need 4 more tickets to hit 40, so 640 I think was the cost to just get her done.

Roll 2 actually think could have been good as well, Bailu seems well regarded and Tingyun is one of the better 4* supports as well I think. I didn't necessarily want dragon girl though so I figured I'd go again and see.

Interestingly on all 3 rolls it took me the full 50 pity to get the SSR character. Didn't get a single one before I'd used up the banner.

SAHO I will add you to friends later on when I play some more after work :)

Some queries:
  • Any do's/don'ts I should bear in mind as F2P here? I don't want to brick my account. I think saving jade crystals for better banners is recommended than trading for normal tickets.
  • Out of Roll 2/3 which would you take?
  • If using Roll 3 who should I generally try and comp up early on? I feel like I need a solid DPS in there somewhere.
  • Should I just keep saving tickets/resources until I can get a pity on a better banner where I like the character?
  • If not minding being a light spender what should I get? battle pass for more jade crystals doesn't seem like bad value?

Perhaps @Vincentdante could provide some more thorough advice as an active player?

F2P or P2W, never trade for normal tickets but only in "Embers Exchange". As F2P, always best to save where you can and do research on character builds before you attempt to pull on banners.

In my personal opinion, I'd avoid Light Cone (limited weapon) banners as you'll come across many good alternatives as you continue playing.

Roll 3. Out of all the standard 5★ characters, Bronya is considered the best even topping many limited characters.

If using Roll 3 who should I generally try and comp up early on? I feel like I need a solid DPS in there somewhere.

You absolutely can, it's never essential to pull on every banner. Many of the 4★s and your Bronya will be able to carry you through especially if you build them very well. It's perhaps the extra content that could pose a challenge with a lack of 5★s however as mentioned, if your builds are excellent perhaps you may be able to clear those as well.

If not minding being a light spender what should I get? battle pass for more jade crystals doesn't seem like bad value?
For a light spender, Express Supply Pass (store recommend tab) is a good choice.

I use Codashop US for in-game purchases as the rates works out cheaper than Google Play Store and PS Store (I'm both mobile and PS5 player). However you may be able to get it cheaper via switching VPN locations and purchasing direct from the in-game store. I'm not a PC player so I won't be able to provide the specifics.

As for Nameless Honor (Battle Pass), my recommendation is purchase once you've hit Lvl. 40 Nameless Honor Levels. Because once you're at 40, you can purchase the a Nameless Medal pass to award you an additional ten NH Levels to take you to Lvl. 50.

Since I have been summoned I will throw in my 2 cents. Out of all of these roll 3 is the best and the one I would go with if I was in your position. Hook is meh but is a good enough DPS to get you through the story, Natasha is a good healer to get you started and Bronya is honestly the best thing on the starter banner.

  • As a F2P my suggestion would be to aim for one character per patch. If you play consistently you will get enough tickets to hit pity at least once. Try to avoid getting multiple copies and lightcone banner is for low spenders at best. NEVER pull on a banner for a featured 4 star, it ends badly.
  • Roll 3, see above
  • Ironically Hook and Dan Heng work well with Bronya but when you get a chance to get a Crit focused 5 star dps that would be a great upgrade. Current banner Feixiao falls into that niche and you could probably get her if you wanted her.
  • Best value is the supply pass, second best value is the Battle pass. That's all I buy each month sometimes skipping one or the other. If you are feeling exuberant an argument could be made for first time bonuses but anything else after is whale territory.
Edit: Btw if you want to add me to here is me.

Thanks for replies both of you!

I should get more time to play on the weekend, otherwise it's just bits here and there atm.

I'm sure I'll have tons of questions! but for now I want to know am I safe to use things like XP boosts, and should I upgrade things in the talents without much thought or do I need to get a build guide up for the character in question?

I'll save special passes for now, should I just do 10 x multis on the stellar warp banner when I get 10 normal tickets from progression?

I can see the Feixiao banner as well but I only have 2 tickets, and it's around for another 15d 12h, not sure I'd have enough time to get it without spending here!

Added you both. My in game name is Tav :)

It's like any Gacha game. You want to start out trying to build 1 party to start out with and before you know it eventually you will be spoiled for choice with how many characters you have. You don't really need a build guide, but they exist if you want to fall back on them. Braxophone and Guoba certified are probably the better youtube guide makers, or you can look up a basic guide on Prydwen.gg.

You can't break a character by leveling the wrong trace though so it's not as big of a deal. Guides are quite handy to help you choose optimal relics and light cones to equip though as people have done the math's for combinations that do better damage. but I wouldn't entirely rely on them as more modern relics might be better on a character than what was available when the guide was made.

XP Boosts? Like Character EXP Materials to level up the characters? Then, yeah you're good to use those. Though keep an eye especially when nearing the max levels so the experience materials aren't wasted (you'll understand during levelling).

should I upgrade things in the talents without much thought or do I need to get a build guide up for the character in question?
Definitely don't do that, it's important to check build guides like the one I shared earlier or on YouTube. That way you'll level and build them efficiently so they can perform at their best while also reserve credits + materials for other units as it can run out quickly.

I'll save special passes for now, should I just do 10 x multis on the stellar warp banner when I get 10 normal tickets from progression?
Yup, hopefully you can obtain plenty of characters and light cones before you hit the 300 guarantee 👍

I can see the Feixiao banner as well but I only have 2 tickets, and it's around for another 15d 12h, not sure I'd have enough time to get it without spending here!
I'd say save as much you can for now and make a final decision before the banner ends. If we go by tier list, she's considered the third highest ranked overall just behind Acheron and Firefly.

Only 2 tickets, but how many jades do you have? Stellar Jades are your primary pulling currency, outside of things like login events/the 5 shop tickets per month, it's somewhat rare to be awarded special tickets directly, the vast majority of pulling currency earnings are going to be in the form of jade. Trying to pull on the banner page without enough tickets will let you convert them directly: 160 jades per ticket (so 1600 for a 10-pull).

If you wanted Feixiao (or one of the other limited characters currently running) there is absolutely more than enough content for you to guarantee getting them, the main limiting factor is whether or not you have enough time to play to earn enough currency,
