And sounds like Hi Evo isnt selling
Why would a film that's 1/2 recap with upscaled footage of the 2005 series in 4:3 aspect ratio and 1/2 16:9 movie quality sakuga in a story that's derivative of the original series (which I despise, btw) not sell? I wonder...

Honestly, I have no idea why these movies were made. It's not like Sato Dai (the writer) had anything new to say... and it seems that people are pi$$ed off that their childhood favourite was ruined. Not an AL thing, I can understand why they'd license it, but there's really no reason these films should even exist. That's why it isn't selling.

I knew why. It’s why AL also pulled it from cinemas but as I want to watch and see the train wreck I have to buy this CE. Yes a new E7 from the crew of the original did sound like a safe bet licensing wise I assume. I don’t see why they did a recap. Geass’ was crap but got great reviews so I dunno, like I hated Geass I I despised the changes and it’s new canon for the R3 film yay... sunrise and bones both milking completed franchise

And sounds like Hi Evo isnt selling. As im confused why they didnt announce this contest at the start

We didn't want to announce anything until we had the physical prizes in our hands, but we offered them up as soon as we could and managed to squeak in just before the end of our Early Bird run. And don't lose any sleep over it, it's selling just fine. ;)

I'm waiting for all the movies to be released before I make my order. 😺

Interesting one this from my perspective, as I adore the original series (avatar to the left is a bit of a giveaway), but having been burned with Good Night, Sleep Tight Young Lovers I've given this a miss, although the second film looks more interesting at the moment.

Heck, I had trouble reconciling Astral Ocean back upon it's release, but having watched it again in tandem with the original series via its UE release at the start of this year I appreciate it more than I did,..

I liked AO way more than the first show, even when it aired. Always found it a pity that it got so hated.
Wonder, any chances on an UE or CE for AO?

Manga still have the rights to AO, so that's probably not happening.
It's also a sub-license from Funimation, so....

And it’s well hated. The end is awful ngl
I find it still way more tolerable than that certain cheesy pollution of a whole planetary satellite...

A release would be nice nonetheless, there is this recent OVA that came out a little before the new movies were announced, and I quite liked that one, too.

I'll throw my hat in the ring & also say that I enjoyed Astral Ocean far more than the original Eureka 7. Sure, it doesn't have Psalms of Planets grand world-building, but the pacing doesn't slow to a snail's crawl for vast chunks of the story, while the cast isn't largely populated by obnoxious assholes. The ending does blow though and shows the staff hopelessly wrote themselves into a corner. I remember trying to hash it out on a podcast after the last episode aired, and every single possible interpretation we came up with was rendered impossible by the events and rules of AO's universe. Also every possible outcome still leads to a final scene of Ao 'floating' on his ref-board in the sky in a new timeline without Trapar-waves. According to the scenario the show puts out he's falling to his death. Well, you can't say that conclusion wouldn't lack impact ;)

Hm? But the trapars do still exist in the end in that new timeline. Wasn't that the point? Some certain football moron wanted to undo everything which would have caused them to disappear but he didn't wanted that.
At least the OVA makes it abundantly clear he isn't falling to his death.
Also he is watching the Corals arriving these 12k years before, and those busts still happen.
