UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

I don't think anyone was taking it as a confirmation of Sound! Euphonium, though I'd imagine quite a lot of people would be happy to see Anime Limited release it if they were able.

Even so, it's still quite a leap from 'we might or might not be able to get this title, and by the way it's on my queue of stuff to watch' to AL being interested and able to do a nice collector's edition.

And if PonyCanUSA do have UK rights I could see them holding it back or restricting what the UK licensor can do, given their poor reputation.

I already have all of the premium editions that NIS America released for Natsume Yuujinchou... If Anime Limited could acquire the two OVAs that were released after the fourth season i'd definitely be interested though.

And since Brain's Base and Midorikawa Yuki is involved I just have to suggest trying to license Hotarubi no Mori e. You guys have done short movies before and since this one hasn't seen light in any western market I think it'd be a really cool thing!

I'd definitely be eager to throw my money at it \(≧▽≦)/.

Well it got some love (screenings, including at SLA) but a release would have been nice.

Having recently watched Genius Party on Netflix, I thought that the discussion about short films on the podcast was very interesting. The main strength of the short film compilation/portmanteau film is also it's weakness: it's inevitable that, by showcasing different talents, the quality will be inconsistent across the running time. At least, that's the case for all that I've seen. For example, I'd say that about half of the shorts that make up Genius Party would probably be standalone masterpieces but one in particular I found to be unwatchably bad (Limit Cycle).

Still, a Studio 4C shorts collection would be magnificent if only for Watanabe's Baby Blue and Kawamori's Shanghai Dragon!

Speaking of short films, Andrew did vaguely hint in the podcast before last (I think it was) that AL might be doing something with the AnimatorExpo shorts. It would be cool if they were able to.

I agree it would be a lot of fun to own these shorts. However Andrew did state that certain ones might not make the cut (the Gundam one specifically - then again now they reached a deal with Sunrise for Gundam so it's possible they might be able to keep it).

Anime Limited have The Rolling Girls!

And Anime Limiteds pickups continue to baffle me....it's a poor show, cute cover of hito ni yasashiku for the OP though.

I miss when everything Anime Limited announced was exciting for me.....seems so long ago now. Guess my wallet is happy though lol.

I remember the excitement of their first couple of announcements - Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, 009 Re:Cyborg, Place Promised & Voices, Perfect Blue.

They said it's the first announcement from MCM so I wonder if they'll save the best for last. But there is MCM London which is where the big guns generally go off.

I thought they spoke about this a bit too much in their last pod cast. Sounds interesting enough :)

Im generally excited by most of the AL licenses announced this year :) but I'm not as big an importer/streamer as you guys so pretty much everything is new and exciting to Me!

Yeah, I guess when you start with Cowboy Bebop and Perfect Blue in your line up it's always going to be downhill from there as going up isn't really an option lol on the plus side, I now have the bloody OP stuck in my head......going to be walking about singing it all bloody day - NaNaNaNaNaNaNaaaaaaaaa

Thing about Rolling Girls is it SOUNDS like a great idea, but the execution is just so poor. Hope they have something I like though but off to a very weak start.

Rolling girls is quite underwhelming, I couldn't bring myself to finish it when it was airing. The dub is also not that great (especially when the VAs attempt to do british accents)

AlltheAnime's webstore is amazing. Received my Tokyo Ghoul Blu-Ray today. Their shop is definitely where it's at to get titles (super) early! The set is beautiful in person. Their collector's editions are looking so much more amazing than they already did.

EDIT:
Word of warning, be careful when removing the sticky circle that's attaching the description card to the outer box. It can peel away the top of the box (and the red foil) if not removed super carefully.

I hadn't heard of Rolling Girls prior to the podcast, so will be checking that show out. I figured the amount it was being discussed there was something up with it :)

*crosses fingers for Barakamon & Nozaki-Kun*

Eh, I'll take the plunge on Rolling girls. Visually, it's gorgeous (might be one of my favorites in that regard) and the music was great (lalalalalalala). I agree that the show was underwhelming but it's nice show to have on when chilling or having a sick day & we need those.

Just so it can stick in everyone else's head too ;)

Wait, why did they use English accents?

Because as the main characters travel around divided parts of Japan, there's a place where some of the residents are seemingly from England and so the Funi VAs for those particular characters put on accents
