Yep, that is exactly how I think arc 3 will end as well, to be honest I have found AGE to quite cheesy throughout so far!

Berserk Finished the anime last week. Brilliant. The first episode does not do justice to the rest of the series (although I can see why they went with it) which is dark, gripping, and brilliantly paced. Great characterisation, strong world building and fantastic music. 5/5
 
Infinite Ryvius - Episodes 8 - 10

There is a dark undertone running through this series but while it remains watchable Ryvius is still an average show so far.
 
You're Under Arrest 23-28

'bout time I made some progress with this, given that I also have both the later series' on DVD yet to be watched, after owning them for far too long. Where did my favourite OP go!? Still, the replacement power ballad ED makes up for it's loss.

My earlier observation that everybody seems a little bit too... nice when compared to other workplace set series' I've seen, (also real life) remains, but this was a good set of episodes for a bit of fleshing out, as we see Ken at his dad's wedding and Aoi cope with the attention of an unknowing suitor. That was only ever going to end one of two ways, and I was pleased they took the more difficult option rather than simply giving them a happily ever after.

I will say that of YUA, it doesn't always go where you would expect it to. When Sena was introduced with her youthful naivete the very first thing I thought was "well this isn't going to last, she's obviously a one-shot character" but lo and behold, once the other characters scratched the surface they find her and Daimaru were suited for each other after all. And now they get a full blown wedding episode with all the opportunities that presents for awkwardness between Ken and Miyuki (I just want to slam their heads together now, how this will be by the end I don't know).

We also get more suspension of disbelief in physics as Natsumi learns to drive, which does occasionally make me cringe in YUA due to its ostensibly real world setting, but is mostly entertaining enough for me not to mind. And another Strike Man episode which, well, is a Strike Man episode.
 
Jormungand ep 4 - This show is so top tier when it's not doing the shooty-shooty bits, but I will allow them that for setting and flavor. Everything just feeds off Koko so well, even the slightly OTT score fits perfectly. As for the CIA dude, very nicely detestable for someone who (I presume) will be a recurring antagonist, and a timely peek into Koko's (and her father's? who?) wider influence.

Hyouka ep 2 - A quick shoutout to Kayano Ai, doing another solid job here after being one of the stand-outs from 2011, but I have to fully give it up for Satou Satomi - probably my least favorite cast member in most big shows she's been in (K-ON!, SYD, OreImo), but absolutely nailing Eru with that lovely lisp. The breezily entertaining A-plot aside, this episode really started to show us a couple of layers underneath the show, and was much the better for it.

Been watching GITSSAC2G

I have to say... I'm disappointed. I'm not enjoying it anywhere near as much as GITSSAC1G. There's WAY too much exposition of stuff that doesn't seem all that relevant. I'm not churlish enough to expect nothing but action, but the length and jargon of these long speeches about stuff that happened in the past of this world is just really dull to me. Granted one of my favourite episodes of the 1st gig was the internet chat room - nothing but talking all ep - , but that was a discussion, these are just historical monologues and it's so political and high level that I can't really keep up, nor do I particularly want to.

My favourite episodes have been ones like the one detailing a bit more of the major's past and the one showcasing Saito's history. I like the character of Goda but so much of these episodes is wasted in exposition it's making it hard for me to enjoy it...
 
Ore no Fujiko ga Konna ni... e.5 - I think this backed up my idea that the show should be about Fujiko as much as possible. Other than that, pretty standard A-plot, usual amounts of swagger to keep it awesome anyway.

KoreZom e.5 - It's a shame this series seems to have run out of ideas at this point, or is holding back the other good ones for the end of the season.

Sankarea e.5 - So I guess this episode was really about Wanko's feet? I am not complaining. Also, actual zombie-ness is hilarious.

One of the things I do like about the show is the way it builds tension.

Just finished watching Bee-train's first 'girl with guns' trilogy Noir which was better than I thought it was going to be!

I'm now onto the second 'girls with guns' series - Madlax. Currently on the second DVD at episode 6. My impressions so far is that it's very different in tone to Noir and I'm not liking it as much due to the mass introduction of characters. However, it is getting better - so I'm reserving judgement until I have watched the entire series.
