Durarara!!x2 Episode 16 (or 4) - A Rumor Only Lasts Seventy-Five Days

Finally an episode that isn't terminally boring.

In one of the LNs Rhyogo Narita talks about how he was surprised to see everybody thought of Mikado as the lead character, and it really shows here. Outside of the opening credits, he's appeared for all of 5 seconds, and I can't help but feel the franchise might have been vastly improved by keeping the focus more tightly on him and the original core of characters, as (with the exception of the children) none of the newly introduced characters are as likable, charming or interesting as the original core.

Also the whole expansion into the Awakusu Company, leads to a loss of narrative clarity that makes the show feel distinctly muddled and directionless, and this is probably the most disappointing part of x2 for me, large parts of the show just seem to be going nowhere. Maybe there will be some eureka moment where everything clicks, but the more it goes on (and having read some of the LNs), that seems like it's never going to happen...

Over the last few days, I've watched the latest episodes of Durarara!! x2, School-Live and Gatchaman Crowds but today, I watched episodes four and five of Shimoneta: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn’t Exist. For a series with such a questionable premise, I'm finding myself continuously impressed with how it's being handled; especially in this episode.

I found Anna's attempted rape of Okuma to be incredibly shocking but also an inevitable result of a society without any proper education or discussion about sex. All animals naturally have urges to copulate and without that knowledge, it's understandable that when confronted with those urges, a sheltered individual will have no idea how to respond to them - to the point that they won't be able to tell what is right or wrong. A clear warning of why we need proper, informed sex education.

erm I binged watched Robotics Notes episodes 4-19 over 36 hours or so, I will likely finish it tonight...great show but Im ashamed/disappointed to have sped through it as fast as I have done

Gate-Episode 5

I liked this episode. Glad to get a bit more action this week. One thing that did slightly confuse me is why Itami's group guarding the south wall was considered a suicide mission. Even with their limited numbers, surely they have the massive technology edge that would ensure their victory in spite of the numbers.

Charlotte-Epiosde 5

Much better than last week just by virtue of not being a sports episode. Some nice relationship building between Yu and Tomori and Yu and Ayumi. I'll be interested to know where they go with that sub plot about Tomori getting beaten.

Himouto! Umaru-chan-Episode 4

Another fairly funny episode.

Aldnoah.Zero - Episodes 1 - 3 (DUB)

The dub for this is actually pretty good. The persistent crackling/distortion? Not so much. Why on earth would you have a Primary 192kbps track in 2015? Hopefully Anime Limited get hold of a lossless source for this when it comes to their BD.

Darker Than Black (English Dub) - Episodes 03-06

The next show in my backlog is none other than Chinese Electric Batman Season 1. So far Episodes 5 & 6 are my favourite.

And speaking of Episode 4:
Me: Oh look a piece of their clothing is on fire.

(*couple of seconds later*)

Me: HOLY **** THEY ARE LITERALLY ON FIRE.

Yu-Gi-Oh GX (Subbed)-Episode 1 and 2

I've been waiting for this since they announced it was coming to CR then I completely forgot about it until now. Yu-Gi-Oh GX is the Yu-gi-oh show I was fondest of as a kid and I remember being really into it. When I got into Anime properly I wanted to watch it to see how it held up. The answer was a sure fire no. Not because of the show itself but the cringey 4Kids voice acting and cheesy music was just such a massive turn off. That's why I was pretty excited to hear that the subbed version was coming to crunchyroll and after checking out the first episode, I like it way more now. I mean, it's still essentially a kids show but without the horrendous voice acting and music it's a lot more enjoyable, so I think I'm going to keep watching. I thought I might be a little mad for picking up another 100+ episode show when I already have Hunter x Hunter and Gintama but CR appear to be putting the episodes on in chunks so I can't burn myself out on it, I'll just watch the episodes as they're added. As a side note, does anyone know how often the episodes are going to be added?

Hunter x Hunter-Episode 45 and 46

Episode 45: Gon and all the other main characters besides Kurapika are really getting left in the dust in this arc. Not sure how I feel about that. I mean I like Kurapika but I'm starting to miss the other characters. Especially Leorio who only came back for one episode then has disappeared again.

Episode 46: Speak of the Devil(s)
