Hunter x Hunter-Episodes 33-38

Episode 35: Hmmm, Gon's fight with Hisoka seemed a little out of character. In the last episode, we see Gon uses cunning and tactics in order to outsmart his enemies in order to win but at the start of this fight he just went brute force and try to just land a hit on Hisoka. This didn't really feel like how Gon would handle things. Killua maybe, but Gon tends to be less hotheaded than that. He did use the tactic of lifting a floor tile again right after, so it wasn't for very long but it still took me out a bit.

Episode 36: And that wraps the Heaven's Arena arc. Whilst enjoyable and of more substance than the Zoldyck Family arc, I still think the Hunter Exam arc has been the best. This arc quickly fell into a formula of a fighting episode then a training episode, rinse and repeat. Whilst the fighting episodes were good, the training episodes fell a little flat for me. I understand the need for pacing but I didn't find them too interesting. I was also disappointed Kurapika's Nen training took place entirely off screen, that would have been good to show to break up the formula. Oh well, as I say, it was still very enjoyable none the less. On to the Yorknew arc next. Very excited about it, it's supposed to be the best arc of the show.

Episode 38: This show really loves setting up arcs in advance. First it set up the Yorknew arc before the Heaven's Arena arc started and now it's set up the Greed Island arc before the Yorknew arc has even started. I really like that the show does this, it makes the arcs seem to flow together better.

Chatlotte - Episode 5

On more positive fronts it's nice to see them dropping their one (unfunny) recurring joke for future episodes
Can I assume Takajou doesn't end up with blood running down his face, then?

I have found it both funny and unfunny in different situations, but it's the first thing that comes to mind as a recurring joke from the show.

Danchigai ep1-3. An okay-ish series of short episodes. Maybe one decent joke each episode, but nothing to get too excited about.

GATE: Thus the JSDF Fought There ep5.

Nadia: Secret of Blue Water ep13.

Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace ep5. Such a tragic tale, yet full of dark truths.

The iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls s2 ep3.

No, I meant the excessive levels of pizza sauce, but Takajou doesn't end up with blood running down his face either (for this one episode at least, because he doesn't end up using his power)...

As an aside, is it just me that gets annoyed when they refer to his power as teleportation? It's not teleportation, it's just the ability to run very quickly...

Oh. How do you not find the pizza sauce joke funny?!

Repetition is not the essence of wit, 5 episodes later, I'm glad Jun Maeda's seemingly making his excuses and dropping the bit.

Also, was not aware Takajou regularly ending up covered in blood was supposed to be a joke, subtitled comedy really doesn't work for me (though there is one notably funny joke toward the end of the episode*)...

*notable only because I actually laughed

Hunter x Hunter-Episodes 39-44

Episode 39: Damn, Kurapika's new chain is way better than his wooden sword things. Can't wait to see them used more.

Episode 42: Hoorah, Leorio is back.

Episode 43: Well that kind of went dark quickly.

Man, HxH is becoming a problem. I'm getting behind on all my airing shows because I'm too invested in HxH. It's too good.

Gangsta 05: Getting some more backstory and a nice fight. I'm enjoying the pacing so far.
Charlotte 05: Little sister getting sick in a story written by Jun Maeda? I can see this not ending well. Kids, too much pizza sauce is too much. Eat healthy.

Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ - Episodes 25 - 28 (Blu-ray)

Episodes 27 & 28 were really, really good and not just in the context of ZZ but just really good mecha anime.

If you get to the Chimera Ant arc, be aware that you'll probably not be able to stop by that point and will just have to power through about 60 eps non-stop - it's that addictive.

Did you get round to watching your Freedom box set yet? (Or have you seen the Manga / some other version?)

No, not yet. Anything that isn't Hunter x Hunter is kind of on the back burner at the moment. I'll be moving house some time soon, in the next 4 or so weeks, so I'm trying to stockpile physical anime to watch whilst I'll inevitably be without the internet for at least a week, if not more so I have stuff to watch. If I finish Hunter x Hunter before the move, it will probably be what I go to next since it's short.
