I haven't seen the DEEN anime for quite a while but when I read the fate route in the VN, I loved the climax a lot. (although the highlight of all the routes is the last few days)
I intend to read the VN too in the long run. I decided to go for DEEN's anime first because I thought I wouldn't be able to enjoy it if I had read the VN beforehand, seeing how the VN fans tend to say it's a mediocre adaptation.

Ambition of Oda Nobuna ep 3-4. Is it strange that 99% of my Japanese history knowledge comes from anime. I'm sure it's all entirely accurate :p

Nadia: Secret of Blue Water ep 5.

Hunter x Hunter-Episodes 4-9

Episode 4: Good episode. Finally got some more backstory for Leorio and Kurapika which I was happy about. I'm looking forward to seeing what's in the Swamp.

Episode 5: Nice to see something resembling a fight in this episode. Hisoka is shaping up to be a pretty cool looking villain. I've always dug the evil clown aesthetic for villains. Although I do wonder how Gon and friends are going to (inevitably) wind up defeating him. I mean, Hisoka can teleport, has heightened agility and either some serious strength or some really strong playing cards whereas Gon and friends are just regular guys.

Episode 6: Menchi seems like a fun character. Not sure how I feel about the massively unnecessary boob shot that happened about halfway though the episode.

Episode 8: God Dammit Tonpa is an ass.

Episode 9: I'm really starting to warm up to Gon's character. I really love how naive and honest he is about everything and just how relentlessly cheerful he is. Also, I'm starting to like Kurapika more now too. Him getting more backstory a couple of episodes helped but in this episode when he beat that fake member of the Phantom Troupe and you really saw his anger it really helped solidify his character.

Man, this show is like crack. Unlike the last long show I watched, Gundam Seed, I feel like I'm watching a ton of these because I really want to rather than because I feel I need to get through it.

Gate-Episode 4

Not a lot happened this week.

Prison School (Japanese Dub) - Episode 03

No words can describe what just happened in this episode.

To me this show is on my top 3 favourite animes of this season.

Gakkou Gurashi! e.3 - This is the realest thing on right now, bar none. Ep 3 was a very effective start to mixing in the story from just before the outbreak through to how the current cast ended up together (Miki's story next week should be interesting too, specifically how she ends up at the school). When the girls were talking in the tent and heard what they assumed to be Megu-nee coming back I got a terrible sinking feeling in my stomach, and I'm not sure I'll react well if/when they pull the trigger on that potential plot twist. :-/

edit: reading back on other people's posts about this ep, fwiw I don't believe Megu-nee is currently deceased.

Hunter x Hunter-Episodes 11-16

Episode 11: Damn, Killua is kind of scary.

Episode 12: Some smart thinking from Gon there at the end. I really liked the Trick Tower mini arc, it's been the best part of the show so far. I'm a sucker for people being trapped in somewhere and having to participate in some kind of challenge to escape type situations and this one was done very well.

Episode 13: Really? A recap only 13 episodes in? Come on.

Sailor Moon (Viz Media English Dub) - Episodes 21-23 (On-Hold until I pickup Part 2)

Interesting last few episodes.

One backlog show down, many more to go!

Watched episodes 21 and 22 of Hanasaku Iroha.

A very enjoyable pair of episodes. I like that the characters still feel quite human and even when things are resolved it's not always a perfect happy ending. I'm not sure if Minchi has made the right choice, there's definitely more potential for story there (though I wonder if it'll be dealt with in the remaining episodes, seems unlikely). There's also time for her to give up and join the Ohana harem, well I can dream.

Mizuno did appear again, only briefly but it's nice to see that sort of thing. I'd still like a proper story to develop there but I guess there's not going to be enough time. That's often a problem with these character focussed shows, especially when they have a sizeable cast.

It looks like there's another big story going on (it's interesting that most of the second half seems to have been at least two part stories with some crossover). I wonder if it'll be resolved in the last four episodes. I guess this is a slice of life show so I don't know if there could be a complete resolution of everything. Sometimes it's okay to have a "just another day" ending and I think it could work here, though I'm not sure that's exactly what'll happen.
