Actually, I Am ep3. Journalists irritate me so much, especially the tabloid types like Mikan. I can tell already that I will never grow to like her character.

Baby Steps s2 ep16.

Nadia: Secret of Blue Water ep2.

Non Non Biyori: Repeat ep3. No one can outsmart Ren-chon, as her teacher/sister just learned.

SHIMONETA: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist ep3. Lewd.

The Heroic Legend of Arslan ep15. Elephants... attack them from the sides and rear and you should be fine. Should be. I'm loving these large-scale battles.

Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ - Episodes 12 - 14 (Blu-ray)

These episodes got a bit better than what has gone before, removing Mashymre (albeit temporarily) helped, but it does feel like this show is going round in circles a lot.

Patlabor - The New Files OVAs (eps 1-16)

A few years ago I watched all the Patlabor anime in sequence, and I have to say the New Files was one of the parts I liked the most, by you the time you get there the world and characters are so familiar and well developed and that allows Oshii to just focus on really good stories.

Yah, it's kind of funny that Patlabor is often classed as a mecha show, because in reality it's far more of an observational sitcom with a solid stable of characters that get varying stints in the spotlight with each episode.

Yeah I agree. I love the whole series but I agree with the notion that by the end you feel a lot more relaxed and have more fun with the silly episodes in the New Files OVA. It's the reason why I generally recommend watching the TV series first followed by the The New Files and then the Early Days OVA and Movies. You get familiar with the characters and the growth that they exhibit shows through more by the end and seeing them change in the films has more impact and the emotions are heightened.

And yes, placing a single genre in Patlabor is doing it a disservice, the series is so diverse and covers a lot of ground from comedy to slice of life to drama, parody, 'spy-fi' (ugh such a weird word), almost anything you can think of really with an amazing cast of human characters all wrapped up in a world that has mechs, which for the most part are glorified construction and industrial equipment retrofitted for combat.

Also worth noting that The New Files and TV series are directed by Naoyuki Yoshinaga while Oshii directed the Early Days OVA and the first two films.

Yuyushiki-Episodes 9-12 (Complete)

Episode 9: Wow, another really funny episode.

Episode 12: Ahh, they saved the beach episode for last.

Himouto! Umaru-chan-Episode 3

Quite a funny episode. I liked this one quite a bit more than the other two. Hope it's not just a fluke.

Over the last two days I've watched:
Noragami - Episodes 10 - 13 (Sub)
Arslan Senki - Episode 15
Durarara!!x2 Ten - Episode 3 (x2 15)
GANGSTA - Episode 4
Charlotte - Episodes 1 - 3

I must say I really enjoyed Noragami. I really liked the characters and their interactions as well as the concept of the show. Having what was (IMO) a pretty good OST and a great voice cast certainly helped it. Hiroshi Kamiya and Miyuki Sawashiro are probably my favourite M&F seiyuu and they were both in the show, so bonus points there. I'd be interested to go back and see how the English dub sounds in comparison. I know it has the guy who voiced Akira Takizawa in Eden of the East as Yato, so at least one of the leads should be okay.

Sailor Moon (Viz Media English Dub) - Episodes 14-16

I must say I am honestly really enjoy watching this 1992 series. The new dub is great and works with all of the characters so far.

God Eater - Episode. 1

Not sure how to feel about this. It's basically a copy of every single action based show released in the past few years, but the twist in this one seems to be that the protagonists are all completely devoid of any personality, with the exception of 1st unit member Lindow. The animation also has this weird sort of plasticy look to it, and I can't tell if I like it or not.

That said, I did enjoy it, and I'll watch a few more episodes in the hope somebody other than Lindow grows a personality...

School Live! (Gakkou Gurashi)-Episode 3

Anime of the Season continues being Anime of the Season. One of my favourite parts of any zombie show or movie is the initial outbreak and how that escalates. I thought this show has a pretty good outbreak sequence although it was a little sudden. The roof scene was still really intense and it had a really good sense of dread. I also liked the emphasis on Sakura's character in this episode. I think it's fairly obvious that she is part of Yuki's delusions since she is the only one who interacts with her directly, the others only do when Yuki brings her up. I do wish they wouldn't hold up on the gore so much. I'm not sure how much gore and stuff is in the Manga but it is a little frustrating how it cuts away from the violence with most of it happening off screen. It's my only gripe with the show so far.

School Live! (Japanese Dub) - Episode 03

The whole thing with Mega-ne is baffling me. I'm just going to assume this: She is real in the flashback that explained how the outbreak occurred and then sometime after that but before the first episode she has passed away. Heh I honestly thought the other girl was an illusion as well considering she didn't appear in this episode's flashback but it turns out we get to see what happened to her during the beginning in the next episode. This episode apparently adapted a very recent side story hence the writing scenes etc.

Hunter x Hunter-Episodes 1-3

Episode 1: Against my better judgment I started another long series. Hopefully this one won't drag like Gundam Seed did. An enjoyable first episode. It wasn't spectacular or anything but I wasn't bored and it's quite a nice looking show, although if they can keep that up for 150 episodes is another matter. The characters aren't really doing much for me yet, Gon seems likable but Leorio seems like kind of an asshole and Kurapika seems a little bland. I'll see how it goes. I also made the mistake of thinking Kurapika was a girl. Whoops. I know all the main character probably haven't been introduced yet but going by the CR poster, it's a shame none of the main characters appear to be female.

Episode 2: Another enjoyable episode. I liked Leorio more in this episode, he is still kind of an ass but his kindness is showing through, I like where is character is heading. Kurapika still seems to be kind of just there, but it's early. I'm quite looking forward to seeing some action. As enjoyable as these first episodes have been, there hasn't been any real action as of yet, and seeing as this is a battle shounen (I think) I find it hard to completely judge it without seeing the actual battles.

Episode 3: A lot of characters introduced in this episode, I hope some of them stick around. In particular Hisoka, he seems like he'd make a good villain.
