Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 - Episodes 13-16

Suddenlythe main enemy, Galatea, appears out of nowhere without much build-up. I thought the story was going well until that point. I'll finish the series anyway, in case the main plot improves.

Funnily enough, I'm watching this at the moment too. I'm not sure how I feel about it, I miss the cheesy 80s music of the original and I'm not sure the character designs are as good either - but I like that they take it in a darker direction, even if the show gets a bit aimless at points with battle scenes that drag on for too long.

Also, Nene just makes me laugh all the time.

It's always nice to hear other opinions!

Some areas have improved from the original OVA like the character development. I like Linna more as a character, she is the most realistic and level-headed member. Other changes, like Sylia's personality, is a bit much. There's a bit too much focus on Macky for my liking. I am picky though. I agree that the music is awful compared to the great 80's music. And those character designs...I'll say no more. I'm watching the dub version and it's really not that bad but I just can't help comparing it the original series. I'm a bit disappointed with the storyline so far as it has some great ideas with conspiracy theories and then ends up falling flat. I have hope that the last few episodes will tie everything together.

The irony is that as dated as the original OVAs are, they actually hold up a heck of a lot better than other OVA stuff from the era (I'm looking at you, Gall Force).

I kind of actually like what they do with Sylia in the reboot - even if it is played a little too OTT at times. She just seems like a properly 'messed up' person, hiding beneath a perfect veneer. You can tell that this was made in the immediate aftermath of Evangelion in terms of the psychological aspects they try and inject in, especially in the English dub when they go as far as having Shinji's voice actor.

Hmm. Admittedly, I haven't seen Gall Force, but I'm always wary of banging the drum too much for the original BGC oavs. Outside of the godly soundtrack, I think they're more interesting for what they say about anime production during the boom years, than they are successful as a coherent sci-fi narrative.

True, I mean, they're by no means perfect - but taking the Geo Climbers ep of Bubblegum Crash for example is a pretty timeless stock sci-fi tale that'd work in any era if re-done with improved animation quality.

Ninja Slayer-Episode 2
While I think this is an improvement over last week's I still can't get over the fact that half of the animation looks like absolute garbage. I think I'll give this one more episode and if I still feel the same I'll drop it...

Paranoia Agent eps 4-8

I had to look up on youtube the part in episode 8 where the three characters tried to hang themselves as it was cut, when i watched it i thought it was odd they just started running down a hill with no setup to it. I wish they hadn't cut it though as it's not like they actually did commit suicide in that scene although the end does suggest they did at some point, not sure when though.

Mobile Suit Z Gundam - Episodes 36 & 37 (Blu-ray)

The animation as a whole in Zeta is pretty good for a mid 80's TV show but the character animation in episode 37 is all over the place!!

Mars day brake

Let's see how bad this series is

I thought The Mars Daybreak was actually a pretty good show, reading the synopsis it doesn't sound great and it isn't Bones best work but entertaining and a worthwhile watch nonetheless.

My Love Story 3 - This show is glorious. I haven't read much further beyond here, so I'm curious as to what they're going to do with the rest of the episodes now Yamato and Takeo are a couple
