Sounds like a wasted opportunity with the background and talent involved, a shame that. Maybe the team didn't gel and the motivation was lackingGirls Band Cry eps 7-13 (complete)
Hmm. After mentioning that director worked on LL!S!! I checked the writer and he too wrote that and this show did feel like an idol show, but with a rock band instead. It was supposed to be a vehicle to launch an IRL band, but seems 2 of the members have already pulled out!
It felt like there was a bit too much melodrama too, with all the background stories, although each character got nowhere near even screen time in this aspect with the first 2 girls getting the vast majority of it (bullying for one and quitting their band over artistic differences for the other), 2 others got an episode each (not wanting to follow in her grandmother's footsteps and abandonment issues/being a perfectionist) and the 5th got literally a couple of lines! (she is a hafu with SEA heritage (which I had to look up on Wikipedia!) and got a rude comment from a customer and both her perents died!). It's quite bizzare how not great the writing was as the writer was also responsible for another original piece, A Place Further Than the Universe, which is great as well adaptations such Euphonium and The Dangers in My Heart!
Already mentioned that I really didn't like the art and animation.
6/10
It could just be me! Enough people seem to like it!Sounds like a wasted opportunity with the background and talent involved, a shame that. Maybe the team didn't gel and the motivation was lacking
You mean you didn't even like Pochita in Chainsaw Man?It could just be me! Enough people seem to like it!
Sometimes, I'll admit, I go into something popular and (sub)consciously want to tear it down, especially if it doesn't grab me straight away like JJK2 (just episode after episode of fighting got boring), Chainsaw Man (the characters were all bad, as in bad people rather than the writing, although there was some of that) and this (I think it immediately set off on the wrong foot, for me, with the art, but most of the characters didn't grab me either).
Frieren and The Apothecary Diaries on the other hand I sort of knew I would like going in and they got me straight away. Delicious in Dungeon on the other hand I think I gave a fair crack of the whip and it just didn't click.

Got to say I feel the same way for all (except Apothecary Diaries - still looking forward to watching that!). Demon Slayer is another one I can't like as much as the hype - on paper I should, great animation, music, interesting characters and story; guess I'm just not one for one long fight drawn out over the majority of a season/cour.It could just be me! Enough people seem to like it!
