Whispered Words vol 9 (complete)
That was a beautiful ending! Even though there's plenty of things off about it. Too many characters that looked the same and the side character sub-plots largely went nowhere. Most of the plot was spent in the first year of high school, but then sped up like mad to rush to graduation meaning their first kiss, as beautiful as it was, was about a year and a half after they finally confessed! Also there was plenty wrong with the presentation, lots of writing outside speech/thought bubbles that were hard to place who they belonged to, also the translation kept the honorifics so some characters had about 5 names/nicknames depending on who was speaking to them which along with the similar designs made it hard to remember who was who and there were loads of typos too!
It was quite amusing at times and also had a fair bit of drama. It's the first yuri I've read where some characters are homophobic! The ones I've read have been set in yuri land where all or the vast majority of the characters are female and the only objections are one of the main characters initial self doubt before realising that they do in fact love women. There was a whole plotline in this manga where our main girl was running for president and the supporters of the opposition planned a smear campaign by stalking her to get pictures of her dating with her friend! But it ended with both candidates being banned from running after the MCs friends confronted the stalkers with violence and ends up with the MCs friend running and winning by default because there's no other candidate and the homophobia aspect is dropped without really being confronted. There is a pro gay marriage message right at the end, but it still hasn't happened in Japan yet 12 years after the manga finished!
Talking of the age of the manga, it has a nice style that is now probably looked upon as a bit old fashioned, but sort of feels nostalgic.
I'm giving it the score based mainly on the central pairings story:
8/10
