I Don't Need a Happy Ending: A Collection of Short Stories (complete)
A collection of stories by the mangaka of Assorted Entanglements. Can't say any were particularly great, the circumstances of how the couples came together were either a bit dark or cliché, the same way as the couple got together in the first volume of AE except in that you get to see the relationship beyond that first hook up. One of the chapters was in a yuri anthology, so I'd already read it.
The best was the chapter that lends it's name to the collection in which a Lady and her maid get together after being with each other since childhood, but then the Lady's duty gets in the way... It also gets a shorter extra story as an original story for this collection at the end.
Some nice art and "action"

Now Loading...! Vol 1 (complete)
Another one by the mangaka of Assorted Entanglements, this time a single story that only lasts for one volume, although it seemed like it was supposed to be longer initially. A rookie games developer gets to work with her idol at the company she ended up at. It was mostly centred on her job, but had a bit of relationship stuff. Comments on MAL say generally say it's a poor man's New Game, but is actual Yuri rather than subtext. Haven't read NG yet, but from what I remember of the anime I can agree with that. Although this did go into some details it wasn't as much as NG. As far as the relationship stuff goes they only properly get together right at the end which is why I think it was supposed to be longer, so wasn't as good as what I've read of AE so far.

Touge Oni: Primal Gods in Ancient Times vol 1
Another first volume of an ongoing series that I'm checking out before continuing. Seems like it'll be similar to Mushishi except dealing with gods rather than mushi, but in the same one per chapter nature and instead of a meandering nature to the story of Mushishi there seems like there'll be an end goal in this one. Also one of the characters is based off a real/mythical person from 700s Japan rather than completely made up.
Definitely continuing.

The Adventures of Pinocchio (Carlo Collodi with Illustrations by Roberto Innocenti) - A ripping yarn, if a tad overly pedagogical/preachy in it's moral lessons, this is a lot darker than the Disney version and very different than the new Guillermo Del Toro version from what I've seen in trailers as well, Pinocchio is a lot naughtier and less swept along by others in this version I would say, I really enjoyed it and the illustrations were awesome. It was interesting to think of it in comparison to the 1959 Russian animation The Adventures of Buratino, and the Enzo D'Alo 2012 animated version of the story, both of which I greatly enjoyed as well. I am planning to watch the Italian animation from 1972 that is probably the closest adaptation of this book soon, I also found the book hilariously funny in places it's got a great sense of humor (I have also attached a file of what is probably my favourite illustration from the book) :)

Illustrated Tales of Dwarfs, Gnomes and Fairy Folk (retold by Ineke Verschuren, with illustrations by Daniela Drescher) - A lovely collection of retellings of fairy and folk tales, many of which were familiar to me, but some not, with beautiful pictures that have little details such as birds and insects to discover, in addition to the main characters of the stories. Made for a nice quick read! :)

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya vol 9
The end of Disappearance and a side story. I think that's everything that's had an anime adaptation in this series. Question is do I continue with the last 11 volumes or read The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan which takes place during the TDoHS first?

I Married My Female Friend vol 1
Another first volume, although no sign of volume 2 yet. The series has ended in Japan already on 4.
2 friends make a deal to get married if neither are in a relationship in 5 years. So, of course, this is what happens, otherwise the title would be a lie! One, Ruriko, is pretty straight laced, has a proper job and goes to bed at sensible time, etc, whilst Kurumi is freelance journalist, goes out most evenings and then pulls all nighters to get her articles in on time. Ruriko definitely has a thing for Kurumi and seems totally fine with the arrangement of Kurumi going off and doing her own thing, for now... Kurumi in the meantime is totally oblivious about Ruriko feelings and doesn't take the partnership side of marriage seriously, they're just best buds living together in slightly odd circumstances after all, for now...

Asumi-chan is Interested in Lesbian Brothels vol 4
Takes a bit of a turn with more of romance plot than a porn plot with the kohai getting closer to Asumi ending with them going on a date. Course there was still some hot action.

Empowered Volume 6 - Amazing, though the titular heroine's assessment of the book's contents is sadly accurate - there is a lot of death in this volume. Still, Emp's just such a joy to read about (and gaze lovingly at), and Warren's dialogue is always humorously on point (particularly the caged demonwolf), so this series continues to earn my highest recommendation :)
