Could you please check if the eye catches and signs are properly subtitles anytime they appear concurrently to dialogue? The french subtitles [also on the discs] are confirmed to lack all of them. Episode 1 should have plenty of such instance.

I own the set. I have checked the first episode with English subtitles. I can confirm that signs are subtitled correctly with concurrent dialogue.

I played the French version as well, and yes, only the dialogue is subtitled, there is no subtitle for the on-screen Japanese text when there is dialogue present at the same time (e.g., where it's supposed to say "SOUL SOCIETY DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT")

Although, it seems odd the subtitled dialogue is at the bottom (where the Japanese text is) and the sign subtitle is at the top!

And so begins the long journey to collect all 500 episodes of Naruto Shippuden.

VIZ sets 1 to 4 (from Amazon US) takes us to episode 110, so already over one fifth of the way there! Set 5 is due out January next year, and yes, I'll pick up the AL sets as well, when they eventually get round to them; Naruto is just an all-timer for me (don't @ me  ).

Wow, I'm not a fan of Naruto whatsoever, but I love that they're doing a panorama image spanned across the front of the slipcovers instead of just on the spine. I wonder if they'll keep adding to just that single image throughout all the releases, or if they will split it up to do multiple spanned images... A single panorama image would be awesome!

They did something similar on the US covers for the original series, albeit the panoramic image only lasted 4 sets and then the other 4 sets made up a separate image:

Going by the cover of Shippuden set 5, it looks like it's going to be the start of a new panoramic image, so it's likely there'll be a new image every 4 sets or so; there's going to be 18 sets in total for VIZ's release of Shippuden, so we'll have to see how they handle it.

Got lucky with my first Anime Limited Christmas order shipping relatively quickly for Xmas standards, which arrived today. I managed to pick up my main pre-sale targets: Demon Slayer: Season 1 and the standard Black Lagoon sets.

A couple of bonus pick ups from the stocking filler were Amagami SS and Amagami SS+. I remember watching this series when I was a teenager, I also seem to remember that it was a visual novel originally. They were cheap, so it'll be nice to revisit this show.

Then, onto the big boys. A little emergency drop from Crunchyroll US via Stackry:

Suicide Club: been eyeing this up for a while. I believe Third Window Films were going to release this film on Blu-ray in the UK, but seemingly plans fell through for whatever reason. Hence, I picked up the Discotek release.

Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin: this is another series I remember watching as a teenager, and which will fit nicely into my 2000s/2010s era collection (which is basically just a collection of shows I watched as an angsty teenager). I do remember it being pretty dark and brutal.

Digimon The Movies: Collection 1: then onto what is probably my release of the year (for me, personally): Discotek's release of the first three Digimon movies. For the first time in the West, in their original separate film structure, remastered and unedited; with Japanese audio/English subtitles, and a brand new English dub with as many of the original cast as possible, and Japanese soundtrack.

This release also includes the original, edited English dub version (which has also been remastered in HD for the first time) that stitched together all three films into one, and it retains the original English soundtrack of the film. As a result, we still get to enjoy bangers like these:

Unfortunately, no Angela Anaconda before the film due to licencing issues, but still. This is how you do a release and please the fans.
