What did you RECEIVE today? PHOTOS EDITION!

@Stiivun. Nice surprise to get the extra volumes in the Hellsing collection or was it listed that way?

The seller I ordered my Hellsing LE cancelled as they said they couldn't find it and now nowhere has it at a reasonable price :( Oh well I'm sure I'll be able to pick it up at some point.

edit: just found one for about 25 quid. That'll do :)

Some classic crime films that I cannot wait to rewatch, Child 44 which is supposed to be a bit pants (but with a cast consisting of Cassell, Oldman, Hardy and more I can't say no)

Not that this matters, since I have the fixed release and can confirm the only thing ever remotely close to a problem is that the subtitles momentarily disappear when one line of text changes, but another doesn't. However, that is a limitation of the way subtitles are displayed on blu-ray, so there's not really anything Anime Ltd. can do about it.
This is not true, and this is disappointing to hear. I can only assume some authoring houses don't have the correct equipment becuase Funimation, Sentai, Hanabee, and probably others can subtitle Blu-rays without the flickering when a caption or a second line of dialogue appears onscreen.

Subtitles are a slideshow of images, and the player can only show the one image at a time, so the flicker occurs as a result of transition between images. It may be possible to minimise it to the point where it's unnoticeable, but it will always be there, it is a limitation of the way subtitles on blu-rays work.

I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't anything wrong with the timing of the subtitles, but some players were slow to process them, resulting in the flicker. Obviously, if that's the case, there's nothing that can be done, except maybe petitioning for XML-based player-rendered subtitles in future specifications.

According to Justin Sevakis, having multiple subtitle streams on screen is really difficult to do with BD subs. I only just noticed this recently, but even the major mainstream distributors don't do it. Say for example they've got two separate conversations going on at one time, they'll format the subtitles as
-Conversation 1
-Conversation 2
and have it as one subtitle - something I find annoying though since the timing is only done to one line. Anime distributors for the most part seem to have grasped how to do this as releases from Aniplex and Sentai always have multiple lines with separate timings on screen at any one time. Funimation can do it but sometimes don't, and even NIS releases from Justin don't do it from what I can remember. That's probably why titles authored in the UK usually have this kind of problem since they just don't usually do it.

I believe the Durarara!! reauthors were done by Justin Sevakis himself (I think he mentioned it briefly on one of the ANNCasts), so that would explain it.

As I said the other day, it's a limitation of the blu-ray format, and as annoying as it is. I don't think you can really blame Anime Ltd. for it.

Justin has worked on a few titles for Anime Limited including (but possibly not limited to) Durarara!!, Perfect Blue, Blood Lad and Tiger & Bunny The Rising. Generally I don't have any issues with the subtitles in his work (or anything else for that matter), so I'm going to assume that Durarara!!'s case was just a result of trying to fix subtitles which were screwed in the first place.

Nice one getting Phantom - just finished watching that recently and it totally exceeded my expectations. Fantastic series.
I've got the Blu-Ray but wanted the box that came with the DVD LE. I haven't watched the BR yet though. Although it's fairly high up my list.

No it wasn't listed as such. In fact there's another FUNi LE underway which was sold as a Part 1 but also contains Part 2.

I like getting those :) From my experience (with my limited sample size) it's more likely to happen with Amazon Japan marketplace sellers. I guess they often just don't realise that some of the boxes contain two separate releases.

Just the one for me today.

Serial Experiments Lain - Bought from eBay for £52, it seems to be in great condition, pretty happy with it. I am now going to have to replace my old broken region free player as I want to watch this series again soon.

Naruto Unleashed 1-6 - Another eBay buy, got all 6 series for £16 and feel kinda bad for the seller, even worse when they also packed in some freebies with it.....But anyway, I may actually get around to watching this one day, probably once I finish Bleach. Kinda thinking I may sell series 1 and 2 to replace em with the same boxed versions as 3-6 but they go on eBay for only a little less than I paid for all 6 of these so maybe not.

That Lain looks even brand new to me Buzzkillington :)

@msgeek, how high is that Kamisama Kiss set ? I know it was bigger than the regular LE's but this seems huge.

Same height as the standards DVD sized LE's. Width equal to just over two of them. Pic on the shelf next to some for the sake of comparison.

Yeah it basically does look brand new tbh. There is an issue where the paper on the top and the bottom seems to have became unglued and can be peeled back about an inch, but that's easy enough to fix. I honestly think I've had things that I bought brand new turn up in worse condition so can't complain.
