I find it really weird it's taken this long for K-On to come out on blu ray in the States. Pretty sure it came out in 2013 in Australia and was scheduled to come out in the UK in 2013 too before being axed by Manga.

That situation was slightly different.

- Bandai released the show into four parts at normal pricing which somewhat dodges reverse importation.
- Madman was able to provide a complete set after releasing the four parts because they're Region B, though Season 2 didn't get the treatment (it technically did but it's just Part 1 and 2 together in a slipcase).
Slight note on the Bandai part - their release was actually nerfed to some extent. As well as having the song changed in episode one, the Japanese audio tracks are all apparently DD @192kbps rather than lossless on both Bandai and Madman's release.
This was also reported to be in an effort to prevent reverse importing back into Japan because the series was so popular.

The only "complete", quality English friendly (-Dub) release for quite a while now has been this sexy thing:

Wow, that looks amazing. Is there a full unboxing of some kind? How much does it cost?

Currently on Amazon JP:
- Season 1 is around 20,762 Yen [~£109.08] (if you buy it on its own, it's 24,629 Yen with P&P & 20% VAT [~£129.3965])
- Season 2 is around 28,833 Yen [~£151.48] (if you buy it on its own, it's 33,596 Yen with P&P & 20% VAT [~£176.51])

They're relatively new so it'll last for quite some time (for now).

Maybe some day.

Also I was hoping that there would only be 4 discs so I could just put my Region B discs in the LE box. It would just look weird if there was a gap. Oh well.

It's ~100 from Amazon JP, not including shipping/taxes. I paid less than that when I pre-ordered it. Contains all the S1 episodes w/subtitles (even for songs), and it also contains subtitles for the Shorts, as well as the interview with Aki Toyosaki which are not on the western BDs.
It is technically 4 discs too since the fifth is some sort of drama CD or something. Found an unboxing here.

Those Ranma sets are gorgeous. Too bad I never really got into the show, although my wallet breathes a sigh of relief.

Similar treatment for Urusei Yatsura when?

As many already know, Aniplex's Limited Edition releases of Sword Art Online have been using the chipboard box art from volumes 1 and *certain volume depending on when the next arc starts* for the main covers of the box. Season 2's Phantom Bullet arc was pretty much unveiled a couple of weeks back and now here's what should be the art for Volumes 3 and 4:

Left side is Mother's Rosario (Episodes 18-24) and Right side is Calibur (Episodes 15-17).

TBS is responsible for delaying numerous anime titles that Sentai have licensed, and due to having the same region the Blu-ray versions were held back until a certain point.
Ah, that's super annoying. I did wonder what was taking Hidamari Sketch x Honeycomb so long (not that the DVD is out either). I guess it'll be an eternity before we get the Sae/Hiro special if we ever do (unless Sentai can somehow manage to release it as part of the Honeycomb set, which would be awesome but I guess extremely unlikely).

Have to get that Free! so that I can be annoyed for ages that I only have the second season. I wonder how the FUNi artwork for Tokyo Ghoul will compare with AL's?

A small shot of Mahouka's first set is up on Aniplex's site.
Still can't believe that's the final design for the English title. The font and sizing looks truly hideous.

What happened to the first season?
