Wow, that is surprising. This show is pretty old now, but I really liked it! This was actually the first subbed show that I saw. Shame it's Region A only, I would have bought this in a heartbeat. Maybe someone will pick it up in the UK? Hell, I'd settle for an Australian release. Is there a chance this could be A/B or Region Free? I'm not familiar with NIS releases.

The early releases would work on PlayStations but from Yuruyuri Season 2 onwards all the sets are Region A only (minus Daily Lives of High School Boys and A Lull in the Sea).

I liked that show more than I expected but never got around to finishing it when it was streaming, so this will be a guaranteed buy.

(You can get a region A only player for a heck of a lot less if you don't mind using different hardware for each region.)

If you have a few hundred quid burning a hole in your pocket, you can always get your hands on a multi-region blu-ray player.

Has anyone used Multi-Region Magic and can confirm that it's legit? (I just want to be better safe than sorry, spending that much money online).

As i recall i got mine from there a few years ago. Having a credit card for riskier purchases is a safe backup plan also

Yup, its legit. Purchased one from there last month, no issues whatsoever.

This is a surprise. Another show that randomly appeared on Netflix has been picked up by NIS America (the other was My Little Monster, while Arpeggio was picked up by Discotek/Crunchyroll).
Being a sucker for most of the NISA releases, you can take a major wager that this will sooner or later end up on my shelves :)

If people are wondering what the differences are between the new and old box format from NISA, i've taken some pictures of them as i got a question regarding this on another forum. So if there's a need i can post these.

I own a couple NIS titles (Daily Lives of High School Boys, Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl, Love Live! Season 1, Nyaruko! Season 1 and Toradora!) and they're all great. Someone on Fandom Post spotted that Chronicles of the Going Home Club and Genshiken Second Generation has sold out on NISA's shop which is odd given they only just got released 2-3 months ago, so I better pick those ones up*.

*then again NIS do reprint their Premium Editions if they sell out not long after they just got released.

Guessing/hoping Anime Limited's version will look similar to this :) [from France I think]

I'm not sure about that Ghoul cover, maybe it'll grow on me but not feeling it at present.

I much prefer this:

Agreed, that would work much better as a season 1 cover :) maybe use the face shot for an artbox to hold seasons 1 & 2

I think that Tokyo Ghoul cover is awesome. I love the top and bottom with it's dripping blood style. Nice

Yeah I quite like it. Rather different to the usual covers I have in my collection. Would be great if the back had his "human" form.

Plus with Anime Limited we know we'll get plenty of other artwork used in the set too, this will likely just be for the slip case.

Im sure in the last podcast they mentioned TG and how the UK release would be pretty much the same as the French release.

I don't know much about Space Brothers, but if it comes over here I hope they use different artwork, as I can see it doing pretty poorly with art like that.

This fills into a few wider thoughts I've been having recently about how much cover art potentially influences a more casual viewer's decision to check out a show. My theory is that fanservice/moe-girl heavy shows can often count on picking up at least a few 'floating viewers' as it were, if the box art is pretty or flashy.

I also really love the French Tokyo Ghoul artwork. Very eyecatching and stylish in a way that sets it apart from other dark shows.

On the point about artwork affecting sales, it's not so much the case now I can buy most of what I want but back when I was younger and having to pick tapes sight-unseen on a budget the cover art had a big effect on which titles I'd buy first. I used to travel a lot and when I'd go into comic stores in the states I'd see all these titles I'd never even viewed trailers for before. The ones with the flashiest covers definitely grabbed my attention fastest.

There are also cases where artwork can be so good it will make me want something more. I don't like Anime Sols but their Creamy Mami cover art is so beautiful that I looked past the stupid mark-ups and just bought every volume. The Utena singles (and actually, the box sets too) look so gorgeous I prioritised them over other titles I knew more about - fortunately it ended up becoming one of my favourite shows.

Then there are cases where the art is so bad it actively puts me off. Most of the classic Manga 90s shows are in this category. Tokyo Revelation was surprisingly cool but the dark, fuzzy box art meant it was years before I bothered picking it up in the first place and some tapes looked like they used screencaps from the actual anime rather than properly finished cover art. I know licensors can be mean about assets but companies should still at least attempt to make their products appear desirable :s

(To address the original point, I fear Space Brothers may not be making a UK debut any time soon given its length and lack of 'otaku appeal' so concerns about the box art are probably premature.)

I'd say that it really depends on the person in regards to whether or not the artwork will attract or deter them from a release. An example are the Funimation SAVE titles. If the series is great and expensive or out of print, most people will bite their tongue and go for the budget release, which always come with crappy artwork which I guess is intentional for many reasons. It's the same with the Greatest Hits releases of games and such, which usually have a bunch of "10/10 GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION!" logos all over them (cue the infamous image of the Batman Arkham City boxart). It's very clear that many people aren't pleased with the way they look, but also the fact remains that many people are in it for the content (i.e. the discs themselves) and don't care if it came in a paper sleeve. I know a lot of people who throw away their slipcovers for example, whereas on the other hand I know people who pay crazy prices for Disney Slipcovers on eBay and such.

I guess it depends. In general, I'm the kind of person that would pay double just so I get a box art that looks better, because at the end of the day when I'm owning something physically, I'm buying it for the whole package. I want it to look good, and to be pleased with my purchase. I love packaging, art, typography and all of that good stuff, so it makes a difference to me. I have a weird fixation with graphic design, actually following which companies worked on certain DVD's/blu-rays and such.

Having said that, I also like a good deal so I don't mind buying a film with less then stellar art as long as its cheap, but rest assured that if it's a movie/show that I care about, I'll import and limited edition for triple or quadruple the price if I have to just to own the definitive edition, even if the disc is essentially the same. Box art in and of itself has never has gotten me to purchase a show/movie I wasn't already interested in, as I'm usually already acquainted with a show/film before I purchase it.

Basically, I've never turned down a release due to bad artwork, but if there exists a release with better presentation/artwork/packaging, I'm going to go out of my way to get it. Memories on blu-ray comes with crappy huge Australian age rating? Still getting it, because it's Memories! But if somebody released it in a slick steelbook or the likes? Double dip!
