UK Anime Blu-ray & DVD Bargains

Are there any older titles that have never been a MVM deal of the week? I feel like stuff like Berserk certainly hasn't been on there as far as I can remember?

It has, I remember owning that on DVD and I know it was from Deal of the Week.

I've started keeping a spreadsheet too, just to keep tabs on what I haven't bought of theirs yet, the gaps definitely seem larger towards their older stuff, eg:

Trigun
Basilisk
Samurai 7
Slayers
Gungrave
Moribito
Fruits Basket

Berserk has definitely been part of DoTW as I remember picking it up when it was on offer.... I believe Agent347 at one point was keeping a spreadsheet or list of titles that were being put up on a weekly basis.

Amazon had Paprika and Tekkonkinkreet in their "Two Blu-ray for £10" sale, but it looks like Paprika has sold out.
You saved a whole 34p over the regular combined price....

I've seeing a few more titles under anime now though (although most are borderline "anime")
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
Resident Evil: Damnation
First Squad
Legend of the Millennium Dragon

This is off-topic, I guess, but I wonder why they always have The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 and don't have Part 2. They do the same sort of thing with the Amazon Prime Video for some reason. I guess it might encourage you to buy/rent one at full price and get the other cheaper/free but it still seems odd. I think you can get the German deluxe edition for about £10 anyway, which might be a better option if you don't mind the box being in German (and if you don't feel compelled to have the two parts as separate films).

On the subject of The Dark Knight Returns, I thought I wouldn't like it since it features older Bruce but it turned out to be quite awesome and is a strong competitor for my favourite DC animated film (also DC film in general but I guess that might go without saying).

(Just so this isn't entirely off-topic) I think Tekkonkinkreet is one of the few anime films available in the UK that I haven't got in some form, is it worth getting?

Base are at 23.99 too. seem to recall packaging at base being better than zavvi but I'll probably stick with Amazon too.

I've had orders from the past in zavvi that were up to around the £25 mark actually shipped from the US and marked as £15 value so they don't have to pay UK VAT... Given the current price I wouldn't put it past them shipping this stuff to the US and back again to exploit this loophole... And that kind of treatment seems likely to result in damage...

I've heard reports of Base shipping titles from Switzerland, presumably to exploit tax loopholes...

I use base a lot and they're mostly ok, some stuff does come from Europe though. One bad experience I had was Ghost in the Shell Steelbook which came buckled along the side, it was only packaged in a white jiffy bag.

Zavvi has recently been quite good; both on getting items out and in the right packaging... for instance regular Blu-ray cases have been sent in Jiffy envelopes (if not carded envelopes) and when I ordered Attack on Titan - Part 1 it came in a box with those large air pocket packets inside so that it didn't get damaged.

when Kill La Kill - Part 1 arrived however it was sent in a carded box that wrapped around the product (albeit the wrong way) but still enough protection.
