It has been 1 week since HdE last bought a DotW.
(Tee hee! See what I did there?)

I made good on my promise to support MVM's regular releases this week and grabbed both sets of Accel World on BD instead.

On the subject of Elfen Lied, I really think that show's worth a punt for that price. I see a lot of hate for it lately, but it felt like a really neat mix of modern production values and old-timey shock-'n'-schlock anime like we used to get in the early '90s.

MVM Deal of the Week is: Majikoi-Oh! Samurai Girls Collection - £9.99

Is it worth getting? I'm always disappointed when they have a DOTW that is also available on Blu-ray. Whether it be available in the UK or US.

(its not changed in price yet, but it will )
I've seen it, was it a deal previously? I'm not sure why I'd have it otherwise but maybe it just happened to be cheap enough and I got it on a whim.

Anyway, I wouldn't really recommend it. It has a few decent moments of comedy and there's an interesting concept in there somewhere but the main story ends up being poorly executed and kind of stupid. The characters tend to be the same, some potential but wasted. Still, if you like harem comedies I guess you might enjoy at least half of the show. I'd probably be happier to recommend it if it hadn't attempted a serious story at all.

I remember hating the series with passion yet i still wanted to own it for some damn reason. It's been a really long time seeing it so i can't remember the specifics but one of the major annoyances that i can remember is the whole Nyu thing. I found that side of the show being vomit inducing.

Well, that's one copy of Outlaw Star sold. About time I got round to seeing it.

The animation is gorgeous and pretty much movie quality but my beef with the show is that it feels like it was meant as introduction. They set up a interesting universe but didn't really take advantage of it.

Seeing Kill La Kill - Box 1 for £19.99 makes me glad I waited (And gutted for those that jumped at the £40 price-tag)... (although I did previously buy the bugged copy during Christmas sales)

Space Dandy - Season 1 (Standard Edition) is also down to £15.99; so if the artbook (and odd-looking artbox) isn't your thing then that's also worth considering.

It's why I'm waiting for Part 2 to come down. Although I'll buy Part 3 at full price to secure the collector's box.

Kinda tempted to do the same myself; although the episodes I watched when I had Part 1 left me feeling 50/50 with the show =S

Has anyone seen Gunparade March? The synopsis sounds interesting but it only has a 7 on MAL. Obviously, that isn't the best metric, so I'm interested if anyone has seen it.

I got it back when they did 13 episode series for £7.99 on DOTW.

It's very middle of the road. I didn't feel ripped off for what I paid as I remember being entertained, but it's very forgettable. (In fact I can't remember very much about it at all, I think there is snow at some point)

I reviewed Gunparade March for AUKN back in the day. Think I gave it a 5 / 10.

Short version: It's really not much cop. And the dub is toe-curlingly awful.

It has been 2 weeks since HdE last bought a DotW. :p

Looking at the review for Gunparade March, it's interesting that both it and the previous comment make note of the snow.

I probably picked it up in that previous deal too but I haven't watched it yet. I haven't really gotten into any mecha shows yet (I think I keep watching the wrong ones) so I thought something that had a bit of mecha but not too much might be a good start, then I didn't get around to trying it. Still, I did watch Patlabor (the OVAs and TV so far) for similar reasons and it's awesome so maybe you should keep your money for that.

I probably should watch the show at some point though, I can have pretty low standards. I didn't entirely hate Gravion.

Gunparade March, one of the shows previously picked up from Anime On Line (March 2012) which remain unwatched :(

Are there any older titles that have never been a MVM deal of the week? I feel like stuff like Berserk certainly hasn't been on there as far as I can remember?
