UK Anime Blu-ray & DVD Bargains

I dont suppose anyone else has taken advantage of that £5.99 NGE offer HMV has going have they? I ordered the first 4 a while back and got volumes 1 and 4 pretty quickly (albeit volume 1 had some superficial damage on the sleeve)

Anyways i just received volume 2 today and its come perfectly fine.....but without the siver sleeve. Has anyone else had this happen to them? And if so how did you react? I'm definitley going to send it back but im not exactly sure under which heading. Faulty or unwanted since it is the product i asked for, just without the sleeve.

Thanks in advance

It's happened to me before so I know how you feel
I rang the help line and explained the situation to them, they're usually pritty cool about it (not like it's coming from their pockets). They'll then send you a return ref number which you just need to write on a piece of paper (including a basic descripton of the problem). Put that in with the DVD and send it to the address they'll give you. They'll probably send you the details via email if you ask anyway. They should even rebate your costs from the postage... allthough that's another story.

There's only crappy looking stuff in the ADV sale now.

Haven't received my 10 DVD's from ADV yet, although I did have a nice surprise when my Get Backers: Season 1 box set arrived early from DVD Pacific today. Lovely ADV slim-pack, best looking box set around. :p

New deals at http://www.advfilms.co.uk

Aquarian Age V1-3 £2 each

Cromartie High School V1-4 £2 each

Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi V1-4 £4 each

Wows!!! I love you guys, bought both Cromartie High School V1-4 and Aquarian Age V1-3, not sure about Abenobashi as I can get the R1 complete collection for 50p less elsewhere.

Also my first ADV order arrived today in a big well sealed box (with box 1 of 2 written on the front hmm?), Madlax vols 2-6 and two of the £1 films, all plastic wrapped and new, greatness, look forward to my next two boxes now.

That took awhile! :| Bet you were starting to get worried about how you would get ADV to respond to emails enquiring about your order...maybe you were planning on sending an image of a nekid 18 year old and claiming you were her?

Also, I take it none of yours were damaged? Lucky bastard.

Nope all perfect but I have two more orders to rectify that.
I found that my email was answered instantly by ADV when I sent it to the email address on the receipt: lwarren@advfilms.co.uk

Ah thanks a lot, i went back for a search of their site and found an email, sent a quicky and got one back in a couple of hours, really polite and apologetic, they just told me to send the entire thing back as faulty. Very impressed with HMV overall. Oh and its freepost as well!

Hehe my friends just couldnt understand
"But you've still got the dvd"
"Without the sleeve!"
"But you have the dvd....the thing that you want to watch"
*sigh*

You mite have had the DVD but come on, you gotta get the whole thing. Can't expect to have an incomplete DVD case. Heh, I know I wouldn't be happy till I'd have it. Suppose it also depends on whether you can wait or settle for what you get.

You make good choice :D

I bought the She the ultimate weapon boxset a few months ago from hmv.co.uk and the first 2 discs have a problem with the sound being all muffled (I have no luck buying DVDs from HMV :( ) but I never got round to sending it back. Does anyone know how long after you make a purchase that you're allowed to request an exchange for a faulty DVD?

Sadly HMV have a 21 return day Policy. If you contact them within this period you'll be fine. If not, then it sounds like you'll be stuck with it mate.

Seriously Abenobashi is a fantastic ( in my opinion ) series and well worth a purchase. :D

You watch the first episode and think to yourself - 'Ohh this seems like a rather charming series about 2 friends.' - but oh no, right at the end it goes tottally whack and you're in for a strange journey.

It's stupid, sad, happy, bizzare, serious, funny... the list goes on. Even the animation style changes at times to suit the mood of the scene. Great stuff. :D

And, it's the series I've used to introduce a few people to anime, ( people who thought anime was just Pokemon and porn, ) and they loved it enough to change their opinion about anime as a whole.

I actually have contacted HMV about my SHE boxset and they told me to send it to them, I just kept forgetting to post it, so if I've contacted them about it already where does that leave me?

Abenobashi is looking more and more brilliant the more i look into it, might have to order it if the stock doesn't run out, is it really really great.

edit: bought Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, heck if Madlax is worth £14 this is worth £16, DVDs sure be a piling up. I've bought all the cheap ones except for angelic layer and Peacemaker now, are they gonna keep this up?, bring them on ADV I'm the No-Face of anime dvds, I want to own Everything lol :p .

Planning on getting Elfen Lied but the rgion 1 boxset seems not to include any of the extras so maybe i'll be buying the hmv £6 discs instead, mkaes my multi region player seem kinda pointless now i realise all the extras are taken off the cheap thin pack boxsets.
Does anyone know if the region 1 Last Exile thin pack has the extras or should I spend £42 for the UK discs instead?

Well maybe if you still have the return code they'll have sent you, you mite get away with it. Otherwise, I couldn't say.

That's ADVs policy in the US, and it's a stupid one. Last Exile was released by Geneon in R1, who don't do such things. I have the Last Exile R1 thin pack and can confirm that it has the extras.
