The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a thread)

It's one of sentai bang zoom dubs isn't it. But I've seen all KyoAni show subs don't plan to change yet.

Yup. If it's any help in demonstrating its quality, the cast has a lot in common with the English Madoka dub. Azusa is the same VA as Madoka, Mio is the same VA as Homura, Ritsu is the same VA as Kyubey and Mugi is the same VA as Hitomi.

I have the movie on Sentai BD and i watched it dubbed for just a bit and the voices sound quite different from the original cast to me. Also, especially the movie when they go to London, it kind of takes away from the enjoyment because they already speak English and you're not hearing them attempting to do so and messing up etc.

On topic bit first (well, I think this is a reasonable place for it):

Are the "this week's new releases" threads going to be making a return at some point? I quite liked seeing what people were planning to pick up as well as some of the discussions that arose. Obviously I'd be too lazy to do them myself, but it'd be nice to see them make a return.

Yeah, not sure why one would want to watch K-ON! Dubbed anyway, slice of life shows imo are best watched subbed.
When you watch a show dubbed first and really enjoy it, it can feel strange to listen to different voices than you're used to (the same goes for watching things subtitled first, of course). I still watch Azumanga Daioh dubbed, it's about as great in Japanese but it's slightly different so I miss the little things that the English dub does (and since I tend to stick to the English dub, I don't get used to the Japanese version).

I'd imagine that K-ON! is likely to have been quite a few people's first experience with similar kinds of shows and they may have watched the dubbed version first (especially if they were relatively new to anime in general) so I could understand people wanting to stick to the version they're used to.

Realistically, you do have to be okay with subtitles if you like similar shows, since very few get an English dub. I think it's good to have at least the odd dubbed show though, since it can draw in more fans who are still experimenting with different kind of shows (and once you're in, you may never get out... not that you'd want to anyway). Obviously the usual dub arguments apply as well (reading difficulties, personal preference and so on).

Yeah I was wondering about that. Heck ever since the Discord chat came to existence this entire forum has been rather quiet, which actually saddens me. I'm sure Ian Wolf (or was it Shiroi, can't remember exactly) will get back to making those threads at some point.

Yeah I've noticed that too, it makes me a bit sad tbh but at the same time I could just join the discord chat if I actually cared all that much lol I guess there's a difference between sitting in a chat talking to people and reading replies on a forum and as someone who just pops onto the forum and reads what's been said a few times a day I'd miss most conversations on Discord anyway. But awk well, at least I still get the news......

Yeah this Friday should get some conversations going (it's when Funimation will unveil their October line-up). :)

As for UK related news, eh we'll have nothing for a while.

Unless I'm mistaken, those threads were just autoposts of the article that Ian used to put up on the site. Seeing as we don't have a main site anymore, Ian doesn't post the article, and it doesn't get autoposted to the forum.

This one has done my crust in for a while now:

Why the friggedy frigg won't United Publications let you pay for out of stock items via PayPal? This has prevented me from ordering LOADS of stuff from them in the past. If I can place an order with Otaku.co.uk for goods listed as 'available to order' using PayPal, it seems really odd that I can't do the same with UP1.

Hmm, dunno, If I had to guess it's because some out of stock stuff is actually unobtainable out of print stuff. Last thing they want to do is take money and then have to refund it.

I'm reading the Manga series Paradise Residence at the moment, and, according to MAL, it only had 3 volumes. However, looking on Amazon, not only is there a 3rd volume coming out, but a 4th and 5th. Are these just incorrect listings?
Just to validate your Google-fu, I'd say it's probably a mistake on Amazons part. Unless they've split the volumes up differently for this release I guess? If your first book ends on chapter 6 I'd go with the mistake.

Quick question - what volumes of the manga does the My Hero Academia anime cover up to? Ie. Once I've finished the anime, where should I pick the manga up from?

Do you want to start reading immediately? There's a second cour coming.

Perhaps. It was more out of interest really, to see how much of the manga material they'd already converted, from a pacing point of view.

The anime has only covered about 2.5 volumes worth of material, so far.

Ahh, wow, barely anything then! Cheers.

Precious ones, do you know where I can get Black Butler Book of Murder and Book of Circus outside of UP1 please? I can't afford what they're listed as and fear they're my only place for now.

Also, any updated on parts 2 and 3 for Durarara x2 in terms of when the Dub for those will be released and that?

Muchos gracias.
