The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a thread)

I was wondering, where does everyone buy their figures from? I only own one figure and I bought it at a convention. I know there is obviously Amazon and eBay and the like, but I don't know if you guys use any figure specific sites. If possible, I'd like them to be UK based, I don't really want to spend a boatload on figures, about £10-£20 all in.
For figures i use

Big in Japan
Nippon Yasan

Both customs undervalue the item and mark it as gift on the custom slip. I use amiami as a last resort if i can't get what i want on those sites, as you'll get hit by customs with amiami.

What is banding exactly? It's not a term I'm familiar with.

Doesn't look like anyone actually directly answered this, it's where you have bands of colour rather than a smooth transition. So in that Steins Gate shot it's noticeable how the background goes from grey to black in several distinct steps.

Someone pinned it on too much compression and that's probably right. It's also rather interesting to note that even the Japanese companies can't avoid it, they take a perfect master, compress it to a size that's much larger than a UK/US size and they also get banding and no one has yet figured out what step introduces it.

Screw medical research, we need people on this now!

Are you talking about the title that appears under your username? If so, that's dependent on post count. It changes every 100 posts until you get to 1000 then it changes every 500 if my understanding is correct.

I was wondering if someone could help me out with an Anime recommendation here. I'm looking for an Anime that's good background noise. A few weeks ago I saw some people say they were going to go for the P4G Platinum Trophy and I decided that I'm going to do the same. Since I've already beaten Persona 4 and Persona 4 Golden a combined total of 3 times, this would just be a trophy run, I wouldn't be paying much attention to the story or anything so I wanted something I could watch at the same time that doesn't require my undivided attention. It will take a while to get this trophy so I want something with a decent amount of episodes and a dub is a must. Available for Streaming too would be a plus.

I was going to say Hunter x Hunter, but that doesn't have a dub (though it is available to stream) - otherwise I'd go for whichever long running Shonen series you haven't seen yet, as they don't really need your full attention. So Fairy Tail, Naruto, Bleach or One Piece.

If Shonen isn't really your thing then perhaps something like Berserk or Black Butler as they're relatively easy to follow.

A rewatch of Berserk did cross my mind seeing as I already own it. I also considered the Shonens but I don't think any of them are (legally) available to Stream with the dub, at least not on CR.

If you have Netflix there's quite a few shows with a dub and at least 24-26 episodes that might work as a background show, Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Pokemon, Knights of Sidonia, Death Note, Fairy Tail, Sword Art Online, Blue Exorcist, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Psycho Pass, Gurren Lagann, Black Butler, Space Dandy and a couple shows with 10-12 eps, High School of the Dead & Blood lad.

Unfortunately I don't. Thanks for the suggestions though. I actually never thought of Yu-gi-oh, I might watch that. I'm pretty sure that's dubbed on CR.

Sub only in the UK, I believe.

Well the old HxH does, but I don't know about streaming.

The long running Shonen titles would fit your criteria I guess, if they're available for streaming in dub.

GTO (CR) and Black Lagoon (Animax) maybe?

If you haven't used Netflix before you can get a month free trial which should give you enough time to watch a few of those shows. Netflix only has the first 2 seasons of Yu-Gi-Oh! as well.

Well for English dubs in streams there's these lot:

Crunchyroll:
- Rurouni Kenshin
- Toradora!

Viewster:
- DNA2
- Eureka Seven
- Ouran High School Host Club
- Saiyuki Reloaded
- Star Ocean EX

Some Funimation YT titles have English dubs like Bamboo Blade.

I kind of feel you'd be missing out if you half-watched Toradora. Also, it's a Rie Kugimiya show so you might be missing out by not watching it with the Japanese language anyway (though your mileage may vary).
