The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a thread)

Just to check something - The Japanese Gundam Unicorn Blu-ray discs are exactly the same as the US/UK versions, just with different covers, right?

Thanks. It's kinda redundant now though since I've learned apparently Amazon Japan can't ship seller goods which they fulfil and are eligible for Prime (so presumably are stored in their own warehouses) to the UK for some inexplicable reason.

Mandarake might have them or you could use a forwarding service.

BigInJapan's forwarding service is cheap and probably worth looking into.

I'll consider it. I just thought I was being clever there selecting only ones from Prime sellers because surely with the stock there in Amazon's warehouse it's just like ordering from Amazon, the way it is here? Apparently not.

Yeah I've ran into that problem too, Fulfilled by Amazon but won't ship to the UK because reasons. The thing is I'm almost sure it hasn't always been that way as I vividly remember almost buying the Japanese Fate/Zero sets 2nd hand (still fulfilled by Amazon though) from there just last year and they were willing to send them over then.

while amazon would be fulfilling it those sellers would have to deal with any issues of lost stock/damage. They probably don't want to deal with it even if amazon is doing the shipping stage

Yeah, 3rd-party fulfilled not shipping internationally is a ball-ache for sure. For example, I want the hardback version of the 3rd Kill La Kill manga volume (since I have the first 2), but the only way to get it is on Amazon fuffiled from Udon. Using a proxy service would set me back around £20 just to ship it. For a single book...

It depends on the seller (there’s a box they can tick to allow it) and also the category (some things Amazon arbitrarily considers too much work to ship abroad; BDs should be fine though). A lot of sellers using FBA don’t tick that box as foreigners have a bad reputation for being hard work.

Because I'm new to this sort of stuff and a nooooooob. Would you say the quality video wise and sound wise from.madman sets and the UK sets. Are much different...if any at all? Blu ray wise

In the majority of cases, no. UK releases almost always borrow from foreign releases, except for rare instances where one doesn't exist, such as AL's A Silent Voice or The Tatami Galaxy, and the majority of these come from Australia I believe, some from the US in cases where they're not available. Madman don't release sub only BDs, so shows with no dub are relegated to DVD, so the UK BD masters would be sourced from the US. So basically, no, it'd be a waste of time.

So I just saw this trailer of Digimon Tri
(3678) Digimon Adventure Tri The Movie Part 2 Trailer - YouTube

....... That song in the background (I think it's the 4kids localized song or something?) is that like in there in the English dub, too as a replacement for the Japanese Butterfly in the opening sequence...?

It replaces butterfly in the dub, yes. It’s not there for the Japanese audio though.

(Part 1 has both tracks for the dub but that didn’t really work and i’m not surprised they decided to just use their new English song for part 2 and remove butterfly for the dub)

Thanks for the Info~ But oh damn, and there I stumbled over some unboxing and thought the UK one has pretty nice packaging and a nice deal of artwrok and the dub casts also doesn't sound half so bad.... But that... noise is a real killer.
(How in the world does it even begin to fit to the footage?)

Guess I'll stick to the German one for the BD disc itself
(3678) Digimon Adventure tri. - Kapitel 1 OP "Leb Deinen Traum" PREVIEW - YouTube *goes into karaoke humming*

Well, now. Preparation for pretty steep German pricing and gotta see how I do manage some frankensteining. ... Anybody willing to let go of their artcards, slip the the amaray case wrap in trade for the German case wrap one with the same thing on both sides just one with this huge blasted rating logo? .-.

Which reminds me. Is the UK release a 15mm amaray case release or a 11mm case release? =O

What are aol like for packaging? Was thinking of getting lull in the sea
They send all of Anime Limited's stuff, and usually do a great job doing so. The best example was one of the Gundam boxes, which came wrapped in a bubble mailer, sent in a box with additional protective packaging.

I recall my MVM Berserk set came well protected so they know what they're doing with their own CEs. Hopefully your set will arrive safely if you buy it. :)

Does anyone know of places that sell Studio Ghibli films at both a good price and easily available

UP1 - Some not available, can only order titles that are in-stock without an account
Anime-On-Line - about £5 more expensive P/BR
Amazon - Total mess, links to DVD's rather than Bluray, Doesn't include Pom Poko at all from what I can see... Avoiding

As most of you will point out, I have an UP1 account, so this shouldn't be an issue for me, and it isn't. But I'm making a list for Cheap Stuff I would like for Bday/Christmas and I would rather they spend at most £15
