 Those two responses concisely reflect reactions of each end of the anime fan spectrum to such news.

If that's the case then I must be the dead centre "Meh" response 8)

I have a friend who will be looking forward to this announcement mind. He loved it when it first aired.

Knowing how CLAMP do their writing these days, inversely.

Maybe a rabbit Salem.

Storyboards have been leaked from the (now shelved) live action adaptation of Akira.

I remain glad that production on this got haulted, Hollywood were just going as far as they could to make another terrible anime adaptation and sully the good name of the original with fans and non-fans alike.

The storyboards themselves weren't looking too bad, until the point Kaneda just drives up to a sign that says 'Welcome to Manhattan' with someone having spraypainted 'Neo' on it, and he just looks into a huge crater. What was going to be the point of him driving to that in the opening scene? To show us that it's now 'Neo' Manhattan and there was an explosion? The original done that just fine why change that? Fair enough to show us those things, but why would Kaneda be driving up to the crater? What's there for him to see?!

Also, you just read the synopsis and cringe; Kaneda's a bar owner...of course he is. There was actually worse as at the point Albert Hughes was meant to be directing there were leaks of scene descriptions from people that had seen the script that included a scene where Tetsuo uses his new powers whilst out bowling with Kaneda and Kei to try and impress Kei (including spinning a bowling bowl on his finger I believe), before Kaneda gets annoyed/jealous and they have a fight.

Good news for Crunchyroll but i hope the UK get a PS3 streaming service aswell
You could always set up a US account. It's easy enough (I used the address of a hotel in Seattle). The CR app is pretty borked atm though (or was last time I used it).

---------

Bakemonogatari Blu-ray set. 15th November. One hundred and fifty goddamn US Dollars for 15 episodes... and a booklet. In UP1 money that'll be £141 plus postage (same as Durarara). Eh, think I'll pass after all...

Yep. Just select "Create New User", then sign up for a PSN account with a US address. It's all very straightforward but there are tutorials out there if needed.

Once you download the CR app, you'll be able to use it with your regular UK account.

Congrats CR!

Yep. CR app works on any PS3 (mine's Japanese). And seconding the remark about it being a bit borked at the moment, though given how much they keep talking about it I anticipate swift improvements.

Edit: Might get my other half to buy Bakemonogatari (he never buys anything!) since I already have the LEs and that feels more costly when it's only for a subtitle track. Well, one way or another it will be bought.

Bakemonogatari blu ray - since it's Aniplex this will probably be usa only region (I can't watch USA blu rays since I use my PS3 for it). Aniplex is the company that hates importers, right? Any word on if they will be bringing the show to DVD too, does anyone know? And if so - how do folk in the uk get our hands on it. Are United Publications likely to get it in? Since they now have a USA based store rather than just the UK one.

Aniplex are indeed the company that hates us, however in spite of this their previous releases have been region free even when new discs were created (e.g. Madoka) so you might be in luck. I'd recommend getting a region A player though eventually unless things change one day in the tragic failure that is the BD regioning war.

UP1 will definitely carry it, or I'll eat my hat.

Edit: But it's not currently showing that foreign orders are forbidden, so I ordered it from TRSI just to be a nuisance >_>

By the looks of it, there's nothing saying you can't just buy the set straight from RightStuf. Then again, it's still probably a good idea to just buy it off UP1.

Looks like they just caught it. Now I get to wonder if my order will be honoured for a while (though I'll just buy it elsewhere if it isn't) >_>;
